Arrhythmias Support Group
Cardiac arrhythmia is a group of conditions in which the muscle contraction of the heart is irregular or is faster or slower than normal. Some arrhythmias are life-threatening medical emergencies that can cause cardiac arrest and sudden death. Others cause aggravating symptoms, such as an awareness of a different heart beat, or palpitation, which can be annoying.

Since 2010 every once in a while I will have this feeling in my chest like a fluttering. The first few ties It happened I was not under any unusably circumstances or stress and in fact was just sitting still watching tv. It has happend off and on sine then. i told one doctr about it and he said it was anxiety (even thought otd him it happens randomly even if Im relaxed or laying down) It would do it about oncce every 3 months or so. The lats physician I had tried to catch it on a ekg and his stethoscope both but did not. It hurts almost..well it feels like pressure. And it freaks me out BAD Im only 31..plus my boyfriend said he did hear it do it. But it wasnt a fluttering. He said it sounded like an extra beat. He has heard it 3 separate times. as I said "Hey its doing it come listen!" lol Yesterday it started doing it again..only it did it for a long period of time..usually it would only happen over the course of 10-15 min about 5 times..last night it did it for over an hour and again today. I feel so weak too..I had to lay down and could hardly talk because I was just suddenly wiped of energy. My grandma has a extra heart beat but she told me it was harmless, well if so why is she on meds for it? Im scared..I dont want to drop dead in front of my 2 year old! I do not have any insurance or a doctor at this time.

There are several different causes for arrhythmia. First of all unless it is really acting up at that moment a EKG or stethoscope will not find it. You need a stress test. Echo's and halter/event monitors are also limited in their findings. It could be nothing, but if it is effecting your day it is worth checking out.

Have you researched atrial flutter? Does it feel like a hummingbird in your chest? Watch your caffeine, chocolate and avoid any stimulants including nicotine for a couple of days to see if it goes away. I think an event monitor is the only way to show the doctor what you are experiencing. Best of luck to you.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
