Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

it is resonating clearly that my "help seeking denial" resurfaced during the covidic delays in establishing my local therapy network. the hearing issues which render the tele-formats ineffective for my therapy needs remain valid to my senses. my local veteran's administration remains masked and socially distant and lip reading remains a vital piece of my communications style, but, overall, the live, mask-free options have opened up far enough that the mandates are no longer a valid obstacle. was last week's hypervigilant flight from my first post-covid support group meeting a trigger event or just another bout of help seeking denial. accepting my mental health needs has yet to make that piece of self-care my favorite hobby.
yesterday's meditation read from "courage to change" has been haunting me for some odd days. it feels like a piece of the puzzle. thought i'd share.

"yes, but. . ." these two words have become a signal to me that i am refusing to accept something over which i am powerless. my world is rich with wonderful gifts: beauty, a loving fellowship and challenges that strengthen and prepare me for a better life. is it worth if to deny these gifts by wishing things were different? will it make them change. no! i prefer to acccept them gladly, enjoy them thoroughly and humbly accept the reality my higher power offers without any, "yes, buts."
the harsh tone, the unkind word, the apparent indifference of another is usually over in a few minutes. what price am i paying by holding on to those few minutes? i don't have to like reality, only accept it for what it is. this day is too precious to waste by resenting things i can't change. when i accept everything as it is, i tend to be reasonably serene. when i spend my time wishing things were different, i know that serenity has lost its priority.
today's reminder
while i am responsible for changing what i can, i have to let go of the rest if i want piece of mind. just for today i will love myself enough to give up a struggle over something which is out of my hands.
"by yeilding, you may obtain victory." ~ovid

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Ovid was a philosopher from a long long time ago. Yes, he lost his C, that lucky man.
now that you mention it, methinks i also use "yes, but. . ." as a social cue to change the subject. i'm not too interested in sniffing your but, my friend.
