Can you ask the repair guy to give you an estimate once he diagnoses the problem?

I was in a car accident a while back and the repair shop did that automatically before they did any work.

Thanks everyone for your replies and support. I just came back from the car repair shop (it is 11:30 a.m.) The good news is he charged me only $20 (but only to tell me what is wrong). The bad news is he said it is problem with the computer (which I believe will cost a lot of money) and that I will have to take it to the dealership (Suzuki dealership) which is about 40 minutes to one hour drive away from we live sine he can't get part. He told me if this was his car, he would not spend money on that. I asked him whether there was anything at all that he could do to make those doors stay locked (when I lock them). He said he could try pulling out the fuse, I believe it is the fuse that controls the lock switch. He did that and told me if it does not solve the problem I can take the car back to him to put the fuse back. I hope it does solve the problem or this car will get stolen sooner or later.

I hope you all have a good day today. As for me I am totally pooped out and hope my Xanax withdrawal problem that got me very sick for a month will be solved. Yesterday my doctor prescribed me this anti-depressant called paliperidone (generic - invega). I didn't start to take it last night because I thought it could get me too drowsy in the morning at the time I had to take the car to the shop. My mood today is on the down and sad side from exhaustion and the Xanax withdraw and my usual worry and fear. My throat is sore, and my body aches., and hands are a little bit warm. I hope I have not got the jackpot of the virus form going out to two places (the doctor's clinic and Walgreen) yesterday I am going to try to get some needed rest. Hope you all have a rested day as well.

Press the Unlock button three times.
Turn the ignition off.
Press the Unlock button three more times.
Turn the ignition back to on.
The horn should beep once. ...
Press the Unlock button, then press Lock again. This is the way to reset the door lock.

While your car’s Auto Lock feature is designed to provide enhanced safety and protection while the car is in motion on the road, you may find it necessary to deactivate it at some point. You’ll need to know how to do that, as well as how to reactivate the system later. Here’s how:
Put the key in the ignition and turn it to on.
Press the Unlock button three times.
Turn the ignition off.
Press the Unlock button three more times.
Turn the ignition back to on.
The horn should beep once. This tells you that you’re now in programming mode.
Press the Unlock button, then press Lock again. The horn will beep once to tell you that Auto Lock was deactivated. It will beep twice if you’re reactivating the system.
Turn the ignition back to off and listen for the horn to beep one time confirming that the programming was accepted.

Hi Mid, Thanks for the instructions. I think this car, since it is 13 years old, is too old for the reset. I went to check the locks again, and they are still in place. I am guessing replacing the computer will cost a lot of money so I am not going to do it (unless the locks pop open again, then I will have to think about what to do, like getting a different car). Let's hope the problem has been solved.
