Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. The self-education can, indeed, be dangerous. Opening yourself to therapy carries the danger of being especially vulnerable to power of suggestion. Is there any chance your therapist might have some reading suggestions? Reading the same books will make it much easier to get on the same page with him/her.
OCD usually has a compulsive component. For sure ask your therapist.
Were my chickens looking at me judgmentally today?
Examples include gambling, eating, smoking, over cleaning, drinking alcohol. It's not done in moderation but done to the extreme.
Maybe your compulsion could be over thinking? I can't diagnose you, but possibly you overthink as a way to keep your anxiety down. For example, if a person first is obsessing about something, and this causes them anxiety, then a person will do a compulsion, to temporarily relieve those anxious thoughts.
Other examples of compulsions are - checking (such as checking over and over if you locked the door), counting, washing your hands over and over.... etc.
You could talk to your therapist about your OCD and I hope they have some good ideas for you to try. Good luck.
Whatever is going on will be sorted out through the therapeutic process.
