Stopped taking when I got pregnant , but was working. I went onto prozac again after I had my daughter and it worked pretty well . My body was sensitive to meds, so I was always on a lose dose and i didnt take it every day due to the longer "shelf life" of the pill.

I am on Wellbutrin now. It was one that gave my aunt a reaction, so as I said everyone is different. At least when it comes to the drugs. A lot of the natural remedies like exercise, positive thinking, fresh air and sunlight, vitamins, etc are things that are easier to share since they generally help regardless of person.
Hope you don't have to go through many to find what works for you. I hate the drug trails and hopefully will be able to get off of them altogether eventually.
It's fairly common and if you have this mutation, you may have a hard time absorbing B12 and folate which are CRUCIAL to mental health and can predispose you to pretty vicious anxiety and/or depression as well as other things like IBS, headaches, auto-immune disease and a host of other issues.
I got the blood test because for me, I wanted to treat the root cause before treating the symptoms.
Talking with a therapist is helpful - I've seen a lot of folks have success with cognitive behavioral therapy or emotional freedom technique. But if the cause is genetic, it could be that there's nothing much to talk about.
In the past, I have found propranalol to be the best solution for my anxiety because it's older, well-proven and inexpensive with few side effects. The xanex or valium can take away the anxiety but may make you feel too loopy to do much. They can also be addictive The SSRI's can have unpredictable side effects but work well for some people.
I also really like the book, "The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook" by Bourne. Lots of really great exercises to work with.
