In my own case, the anxiety attacks are still a daily occurrence, despite my decades of therapy. My own case is pretty extreme. My relief has come in the form of leaning how to manage them. Yea, they are still there, but I am the Captain of my own ship. My anxiety doesn't get to rule my course.
That hyperventilation is the heart and soul of the wisdom behind breathing exercises. In my own psychoweirds, I tend to hold my breath when I get anxious, but the wonky breathing is the symptom I address. When I can regulate my breathing, the anxiety eases without fail.
Further kudos for recognizing the value of rest and self-care in recovering from an anxiety attack. An ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure.
