Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
This, right there, is the crux of the anxiety disease I tend to think. stopping yourself before you start. Saying no before you have even asked the question.
I had this attitude for years. I think it's really destructive. I think when you feel strong enough, pick one tiny thing to do, and do it. It might be going to an art show. It might be going for a walk down by the river. Just pick one thing you think you can cope with, plan it for a day when you think you will be able to get it done, and go for it.
That's what I'm doing anyway. I'm trying to see one friend at least per month, one social event even if I have to spend money for it per month. That's one every other payday, and I can handle that.
Otherwise I think I will wake up one day, nearly dead, with no friends, no life, no memories, no good times. People don't remember how much money you save. They remember going out and doing things with you over the years. My children will have no memories if I don't create them. And it gets easier, and it gets more fulfilling, and I panic less and less about spending the money.
Bridgie, I appreciate your words. I think about that too - I don't want to get to the end of my life and think - "I wish." I want to remember all the good stuff I actually did.
And your words also helped me realize I actually DO have a life - I just don't appreciate the things I DO. I get together with friends several times a week - sometimes several times a day! And I do go out and do things. Sometimes I get focused on what I want to do that I can't do rather than realizing all I CAN do. And I also feel I can't do something because I'd have to do it differently. I can't walk all day but I can go shopping in a "go kart" as I call them!
And kaylee - thank you. It's helping me to realize how good I have it that white I am anxious about the surgery, I'm not SO anxious that I won't do it. It should be done by this time next month.
Thank you for the cortisone idea. I've gone the route of chiropractor and PT so I've not considered that but maybe I should. Bursitis HURTS like a bear!
I appreciate both of your insights. Thank you!
