Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
So I have to ask - has something been stressful for you in the last six months?
It has been a goodly while since I have had this symptom, but I used to have it at sleep deprivation levels. That was back in the bad old days when even the dumbest of us were still smarter than our phones and connectivity still required eye contact, but the premise of sharing about my anxieties within a supportive network remains. I am still loonier than a toon, but I am sleeping well these days.
Don't accuse me of unlicensed experting, but I does believe this very post puts that hard, hard step behind you. I would suggest that you let the next step be sitting with this step a while and see where it takes you. When you are ready for the next step, it will be obvious to you.
Welcome aboard, eGADs. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
For now, do your best not to give these night time anxiety attacks any energy. Meaning, try not to think about *What If I have an anxiety attack tonight?* when you are getting yourself ready to sleep. Self fulfilling prophecy could happen. Just go to sleep, don't think about stressful things before bed (write them down.... gets it out of your head and on to paper), and just go to sleep like normal. Anxiety loves to mess with us... so don't give it any energy! :-) Good luck!
I am so sorry that you have been suffering from anxiety for so long and for your new issues. Though I have not been dealing with anxiety for that long, due to a fall eight years ago, I suffer from PTSD and subsequent anxiety. What has really helped me more than anything else has been relying on Jesus Christ and meditating on His Word. I have found that I get more peace and joy from this than medications or therapy or anything else. Please know that I am praying for you.
May God bless you,
Kevin
