Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I suffered from anxiety and panic attacks for most of my life (I'm 57 years old).
It got so bad 6 years ago that I begged to die after trying what I thought was every avenue
possible. I went to doctors, accupuncturists, chiropractors, and taking medicines with awful side effects
that often made the anxiety worse.
I also found out about 5 years ago that I had type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
I found out that when my sugar dropped or got too high, it triggered anxiety. So eat regularly and small meals to keep blood sugar in check even if you are not diabetic.
I tried like heck to find out the underlying cause of the anxiety through talk therapy. I had so many "issues" and spent
almost 3 decades and 2 hospitalizations trying to figure it out. I concluded that EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE gave me anxiety.
So I set out on my venture to find cures instead of band-aide type solutions.
My findings is that it takes a cluster of things to cure (yes, I said cure) anxiety........diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure.
It does take good nutrition (MOSTLY plant based diet. Meats should be hormone and antibiotic free. NOTHING GMO). Exercise. Fresh air. Meditation (about 10 minutes is good). Hydration with good water...watch the flouride intake (No soda, no fake sugar. Real sugar is best, but just a little). Good sleep (invest in good pillows and mattress. Sleep in loose and light bed clothes).
Now here is the kicker......MAKE SURE YOUR VITAMIN AND MINERALS ARE IN BALANCE.
This is hard becuz most of the food we consume (especially processed and fast foods) are deficient in the vitamins and minerals needed daily. If any of them are out of balance, it will cause a host of health issues AND anxiety and panic attacks.
It may take some time, but you need to find out where you are deficient and tackle a little bit at a time.
You would be surprised that most of the vitamins and minerals control your hormones and bodily functions which contribute to depression and anxiety/panic attacks.
I recently added 900 mg of vegan/gluten free turmeric which has given me added bonuses such as pain reduction, more alert, clearer skin, better digestion....
Most ppl have leaky gut from poor quality food, medicines, and environmental toxins which is a main cause of most diseases.
Supplements are a great idea since our foods are lacking in the proper vitamins due to the soil being deficient from over use AND toxins added.
However, the stuff you buy at Walmart and Walgreens won't help you as they also are made incorrectly and have nasty ingredients added.
Go to a health food store or "Vitamin Shoppe" (not GMC) to get the good stuff.
I know, I know.....it's too expensive!!! However, even if you just buy magnesium (vegan/ gluten free) or buy organic food (careful as not everything marked organic really is. Try a Farmers Market) or try fresh food instead of processed or fast food that will make a difference.
Think about ALL the money you spend on health insurance....co pays for doctors and meds. I opted for a discount program and saved $300 per month. Check with your accountant or tax person and mine told me that some vitamins that replace meds can be deducted. I'm sure every state is different.
Since I have my health under control.....less doctor appointments and I feel a thousand times better. Yes, I got worse before I got better, but it was worth the effort.
I am actually spending less even though the vitamins and food are more expensive. My health is a reflection by banisishing anxiety and I am now pre diabetic.....lower cholesterol and blood pressure is coming down.
I am saving $2,0000 a year by getting healthy by being proactive and finding the answers myself and then applying them.
I don't have to spend my free time sitting in doctor offices, waiting in waiting rooms to get tests and waiting for results. No doctors prescribing a ton of medicines that made me sicker.
However, as I stated before, good nutrition with QUALITY supplements that are in balance are very important, but not the whole enchilada.
Get moving with exercise, meditate and deep breathing, keep hydrated, positive self talk and hanging around positive peeps. Quality sleep will come when you turn off the news and negative social media. Stay away from artificial sweetners of any kind....they are neuro toxins and a huge contributor to anxiety. So is anything that contains high fructose, corn syrup, vegetable oil, saffron and sunflower oil, and corn oil. These and a few other additives cause anxiety and a host of other health issues.
I wish everyone well being and true happiness :)
Change is not impossible if done a little at a time. Don't let anxiety rob one more minute of your time. Make lasting lifestyle changes and you will live a full and rewarding life....I promise. It will only happen if you take action!
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"
What I call "real food" (so tasty fresh grown strawberries, some of the hundreds of types of apples, a fresh picked tomato off of the vine)....IS so worth the money.
My kids are 15 and 18, and I'm training them to spot REAL farmers stalls (on the highway in front of their actual farm) ...rather than "fast food" (most of which I like...about once ever couple years at most).
I think all we can do is do our best. However, how can we tell if something marked organic is not organic?
ren20 ~ I think your doctor can do a test. However, if you look up how much you must get a day and then total your food intake, you can add a supplement to fill the gap? Maybe someone else can give some input on this subject.
Usually magnesium deficiency is a problem for many ppl as it is depleted in our soil therefore is deficient in the food. ONE symptom of magnesium deficiency is anxiety.
However, get it checked out to be sure.
I have found that vitamin and mineral deficiency play a big part in anxiety and disease.
I do a lot of research and am learning how the human body works. I'm starting to think I should have been a scientist!
I don't know everything, but I know more than my doctor becuz every time I ask a question, I get a text book answer or she sends me to a specialist who doesn't know the answer either. Hence my own detective work!
I highly suggest research outside of WebMed sites. It is very enlightening and eye opening as well.
How do you know? I'm FAR from an expert, but I talk to the people selling...anything. Farmers (organic or not) generally love to talk about their craft (don't we all?). Most real farmers have opinions on stuff...varieties of their plants, types of fertilizer, when to plant, how the weather had been, etc.
And then you can also peak under the tables. If you see a 50 pound bag shipped from another country....chances are it's not organic.
If you live in a farming type area, you might also be able to find farmers who will sell weekly "boxes" of their stuff. I can't remember how much it cost, and it was nearly 20 years ago, but I had friends who got a weekly box of organic produce from a neighboring farmer. Good stuff. Not a bad price either. Maybe slightly higher than you'd pay in the grocery store, but a hundred times better tasting. The "lack of choice" was actually nice because it pushed them to trying different things.
BTW, I'm not a huge fan of "organic" vs non-organic. But I am a huge fan of Local. If you're selling to your next door neighbors...and you poison them...they're not going to be happy. And you'll find out about it within a week.
I take a host of vitamins and still detoxing from meds I was on for about 5 years.
I ended up with gall bladder issues and issues digesting properly, so am in the process of healing those issues.
Food is my medicine. I NEVER thought I'd be mostly a plant based eating person, but I am actually LOVING it and cravings for sugar, meats, and crap food is no longer a problem.
I love not having side effects and extra energy. I don't miss the anxiety and massive panic attacks that sent me to the ER 3 times.
To boot, over 100 pounds just fell off without even trying and I've kept it off for the past 4 years.
Also, drinking plenty of fresh water is a must. Dehydration also plays a part in anxiety, so combating anxiety by drinking enough water is high on the list of ammo in fighting anxiety.
I keep harping on people to change their diet if they have Anxiety and Depression.
All they need to do is go on the internet and find a huge list. Also.... Foods that make Anxiety and Depression worse.... Sugar and even sugar substitutes are awful for the Anxiety ridden mind.
Besides foods, herbs are a big help. And then Vitamins. There's actually bottles of Vitamins that are premixed, (per pill) to help you relax, calm you and help change your moods.
Diet, diet, diet!
