Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
So now that you have experienced this you know it cannot get any worse. You can just let it enter your body and watch it leave. When you feel anxious try to breath in slowly for four second and breath out slwly for four seconds. Then remember this you cannot be relaxed and anxious at the same time-lay down on the couch and teeeeense up your toes for 5-10 seconds and focus only on your toes, then go to the foot , the ankle, the leg, etc. Make sure you do your shoulders, neck dacce. You would be surprixsed with how much tension you can hold there. Write in a journal and write and write until you feel calm. Are you starting something new? Is someone treating you badly? Write about it. It really helps. Call someone and just talk and listen. You don't even have to mention you are anxious or you can. There is something about fearing and listening to someone. ou are not just focusing on yourself. Distract yourself-play a video game. Do something you enjoy. Have a hobby that you can do to relax yourself/ Slow down your day. Own your day. Tell yourself this is your day to do anything you want and then do it. Do some yoga or go for a nature walk.
If you have not seen a doctor, see one. He may prescribe a mild anti-anxiety pill .
I know exactly what you are going thru and have felt everything you describe.
Why are you worried you will loose touch with reality? Does everything feel unreal? This is a common symptom of anxiety.
You may just need to learn to relax and retrain your thoughts or there could be another underlying illness causing you to feel the way you do.
I felt like you do for a long time but I am now feeling a lot better. there is hope. x
"going on". Every human being does it - but to varying degrees. Think about it - if someone has an interaction with another person and thinks that person doesn't like them - they will start this self talk" Oh, I must have said something wrong, I be she thinks I'm really stupid,, etc." And, you will really have that perception of that person and maybe not want to be with them anymore. What if, in reality, that person was going through a very difficult time, and was preoccupied and wasn't thinking about you at all? From "your" conclusion you have "set yourself up" to maybe lose a friend and, perceive yourself in a way that has no basis whatsoever.
That is a very common example of what people do all the time - project what is in their minds onto the environment or situations they are in to try and "understand" what's going on - but it's all based on past, biased outllooks.
You are doing the same thing - psychologists know the process "projection causes perception". What you "don't" want in your mind - your "project it out of your mind onto the "world".
NOTHING can cause you to feel fear except your own thoughts! You are literally "looking" at a thick film of unconsious thought energy.
Practice making the things around you your "friends". Don't resist it= by resisting it you are "bracing" yourself against a perceived "enemy".
Look at one thing in your environment that you have pleasant association about. See it as it REALLY is - not what you are telling yourself about it.
Your are not insane, but you are scaring yourself with your own mind. Try to use some common sense - it will lift you up - that's all you need. No special powers, no intensive therapy, just some common sense.
Instead of identifying with your thoughts and believing them, try saying "my THOUGHTS are causing me to feel uncomfortable." Say it again, and again until you start to realize that it is your thoughts, and YOU are the one who is AWARE of those thoughts.
Blessing and blessings - like I said, I have felt exactly what you are feeling. It goes away when you start allowing some wisdom and common sense into your thought system. Stop believing your own scary thoughts, even though they may be screaming at you. Talk to them - "I hear you, but I am choosing to think differently" You actually have that power to do that it you call upon it. Relief won't last for a long time, those habits are strong, but if you get some relief, you will realize where all this is coming from and that it is entirely under your control as you practice good, wholesome, true and loving thoughts. Those are the ONLY thoughts that are true - everything else is an "illusion of the mind" which has no long term effects - ALWAYS passes, simply because they are NOT real.
Much love, Pursah
