Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I went back to my psychologist yesterday and explained to her about the questions I clearly misinterpreted.
She explained to me that my primary diagnosis is Bipolar disorder along with severe anxiety and depression. I wasn't sure about being previously diagnosed as bipolar because the lady that had diagnosed me had never even really talked to me enough to get that diagnosis, but now it is confirmed.
My secondary diagnosis is very mild Asperger's on the social awkwardness side. I had a feeling that this was going to be my diagnosis, but wasn't expecting the bipolar so much.
My psychologist also told me I am slightly paranoid, which I believe anyone who cares what other people think of them is paranoid. That is also what she explained to me.
I am glad to know what is going on with me. I am terrified that I will never get out of my social awkwardness. It's hard to go anywhere and do anything other than staying home. She and I are going to go into detail next week about what my options are and what to do to help.
I am mostly worried that I will be expected to go to work and socialize. I would rather jump off a bridge. NO JOKE! Well, I'm making myself sick just thinking about it if that gives you an idea of how socially awkward I am and how much anxiety I have.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

I have some social awkwardness; in some kinds of situations I put my foot in my mouth.
My thinking thus far is : to not talk so impulsively and often. I think I should content myself more..to just listen and to appreciate the people I'm around.
It sounds like your psychologist is real okay. You are lucky
. :)
There are so many things going on inside my head all the time I wonder how it hasn't already exploded. At times my husband has asked what I am thinking about because I have a deep thought look on my face. I tell him there's so many things I am thinking he wouldn't believe me.
At one point he insisted that I tell him everything on my mind. He was flabbergasted that so many different things could be going on inside my head all at once. So many different emotions all at one time. That is my life (always has been) and I wish it weren't.
At your age you are just being diagnosed with Asperger's?
Its good you got a diagnosis...I've been in treatment for 9 years and only found out about 2 months ago what they think my "main" problem is...and has been for 9 years...same Drs...I just never ASKED.
I just kept going for therapy....Major Depression, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety and PTSD...I am not currently working quit my job last year due to these problems causing me problems at work.
@ Mandu - I found paranoia went away when the anxiety and the bad environment I was in went away. I think paranoia comes from the vulnerability.
I hope it all comes out right. Remember the first diagnosis is not always the last one, and you might exhibit symptoms now which fade as the anxiety and depression go away. Don't be too quick to jam yourself in a box. If anyone had met me only in my worst GAD Major Depressive Disorder stage, desperation, hysteria, panic, terror, paranoia, - they would have thought I was far more nuts than I turned out to be. Little problems can have huge results, and when you take away the little problems, huge changes can happen.
When you feel better about life I think the social awkwardness may fade. :) Take care.
The reason for such late diagnosis is my mom is in denial about any health issues. By the time I was an adult and able to go myself I didn't have health insurance until recently and couldn't afford to pay out of pocket. That is the reason.
My psychologist said once my anxiety is calmed down my paranoia will also dimenish. It totally makes sense. Of course my Asperger's will never go away. Hopefully my social awkwardness will fade, but I do have other issues too.
That's the problem for a lot of people who are not diagnosed until AFTER they experience the down-side of work place issues directly connected with their diagnosis medically.
You will find your way through this.
Best wishes!
