Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

i often wonder if the meanest of my psychotic delusions are all rooted in, or at least fertilized by my drive to be unique and special with a HIGHER PURPOSE higher than the highest of the high. did you know that jesus has a sister? pleased to meet you. daddy told my lazy assed baby bro to sit this one out. **i** am the star of the second coming. are you ready to see the light?
sigh. . .
as my healing journey has progressed, i have found myself wondering, more and more, if the greater uniqueness lives in the mundane details of daily life. the gift of making a child's smile a little brighter. the relief of an over-burdened employee seeing a hand reach to open the door for them. a prayer for healing as i scurry past the drunk in the gutter.
am i making sense? open discussion.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
I’ve never personally sought or felt I needed to have a higher purpose. I honestly had such low aspirations for myself growing up that I never thought I’d be anything, let alone have a purpose. So eventually eking out a hum drum life where I felt secure, had a community of friends, could live independently, and work at a job I felt good at was really like hitting the jackpot. I didn’t want to be unique or special. I just wanted to be able to live a stable life.
I’ve referred to this before but it really made an impression on me 40 years ago when I was in high school and I apply the concept to this day, about getting back to basics. A coach used to tell the team I played on, “let’s get back to basics.” When we played outside of ourselves, we tried too hard, couldn’t execute, became selfish needing the glory and the attention, then we lost our way. When we got back to basics, the greater glory was executing a simple pass, supporting team mates, running a basic play scheme. So I really feel like the “good stuff” always lies in the simple and mundane. I think it’s because the simple and mundane is where you really are your true self, where you really see others as they really are and where you can really connect.
The painter Vermeer focused his painting subjects doing very everyday, simple tasks, like pouring milk from a pitcher, a farm chore, reading a book, etc. They are such beautiful paintings that to me they literally and figuratively represent the sublime in the mundane.
I am not a Billy Joel fan per se but he was quoted as saying “ The joy of life is made up of obscure and seemingly mundane victories that gives us our own small
satisfactions.” This really resonates with me.
Sorry I’m a bit all over the place in my thoughts. But maybe it comes down to that adage that people won’t remember what you did or said but they will remember how they felt. It’s in the mundane, holding a door for tired coworker, saying hello to an elderly person, making a child smile, etc where that is palpable. That’s perhaps where real purpose lies.
girl howdy, that was a harsh pedestal to fall from. . . it's been over half a century since i abandoned that post and i still have family members attempting to get me back on that pedestal. thanks, but no thanks.
love the art analogies. . . are you one of the art lovers who have threatened to hang me for the sacrilege of putting vermeer and rockwell in the same art gallery for their dignified treatment of every day simplicity?
I like all kinds of art and I like it when different styles are together. I really like outsider art or “naive art.” Just like images that get me thinking and/or feeling, I had a teacher always say “eat with your eyes.” Fill up on the visual feast.
Heavy burden to carry being counted on the be the fixer, healer, savior. problem solver, etc. I always felt the burden of I having to fight for things all the time. It occurred to me at some point I could just drop my proverbial fists and stop. At first I didn’t know what to do with myself and then came relief.
i heartily endorse the notion of dropping the proverbial fists, but in my own case, there was/is nothing justy in the notion. i've never valued things enough to fight over them, but i'll tear you a new orifice if don't ______. there are quite a few ideals i fill in that blank with. i mostly think i'm a natural born warrior and fighting is **just** in my nature. i've chosen to channel rather than cure. is there a cure for the common me?
i choose my battles small enough to win and big enough to matter, but there are battles worth fighting in this world.
