Instead I found Zen meditation. Ive been going weekly for over 11 years now - and no one has forced me to pay any money. I do "donate" each time I go - but its minimal - and no where near as expensive as TM. Not to mention that I think Zen meditation has helped me tremendously with my recovery.
Not to mention that Zen meditation has been proven for over 2500 years to help people. So there is no shortage of proof in Zen.
The thing with meditation is that it does take time for you to start to feel the benefits. Especially if your anxiety levels are high. So the key with meditation is to start and be patent with it - but also be very diligent. My own experience is that it is wonderful for anxiety and it helps greatly - however it "works" so gently that the benefits are often overlooked or ignored. But the benefits are there - just takes time to see it.
Also - the more you do to help your anxiety, the better. And looking into meditation is wonderful.
Wish you the best.
