Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Saturday afternoon was a tough day anxiety wise for me and I assume it was from the several cups of strong coffee I had as well as beating myself up for not going to hear a speaker at a conference. Usually though, my anxiety is free flowing when it hits which means I really dont have a clue. Ill be feeling just fine and then out of the blue my body is flooded with the fight or flight response. Grrrrr I hate that. I hate having to work myself out of feeling anxious because I truly feel I am okay with whatever God has planned for me.
After doing prayer and meditation, breathing exercises, positive self talk etc and still finding myself in the throes of anxiety, I simply have to tell myself to sit with the feelings and that they will pass with time..they ALWAYS do. I also never know if some of the anxiety is related to my blood sugar as it gets used to being lower. I did feel considerably better after drinking a glass of milk but it didnt totally leave. I was anxious this morning as soon as I woke upfor no apparent reason. I went through the motions of taking my shower, getting dressed, doing my prayer and meditations etc. I got in the car and drove myself to work. After I ate my breakfast here though, the anxiety went away. So I know some of it is blood sugar related.
One of the ways I know it is truly an anxiety attack and not something seriously medical is that I can carry on a conversation with someone and theyd never guess my insides are rolling. I can focus and think. Id have to tell you that I was uncomfortable at the moment for you to even know. I ask myself..Is this danger or discomfort? If danger, do something. If not, I just have to do what I need to do to be comfortable while feeling anxious. I really try to keep on doing whatever Id normally be doing if the anxiety wasnt happening. I do it much the way I practice my Al-Anon program if the alcoholic is drinking. When I choose not to move forward and just sit in the feelings though, I have to also love myself through it and not beat myself up. Thats where I get stuck sometimes. :-(
After a really rough Saturday afternoon and this morning; Im doing really well now. Whew.feeling ones feelings (especially the uncomfortable ones) can wear a person out.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

Usually, I don't have a clue as to what makes a sudden attack happen. Perhaps it is a "subconscious" thought or one of my repressed childhood memories flashing through without me even being aware it has happened. I like the explaination though that the adrenalin surge starts the cycle and that is what is actually going on. Because normally I react with the "something must be terriblly wrong" when the adrenalin surge happens. That just perpetuates the cycle.
