It could be hormonal or it could be a vitamin deficiency. Thyroid issues can also cause anxiety.
For me it was a mutation in the MTHFR gene which is an inexpensive genetic test. I had anxiety for over 40 years and saw countless doctors and no one thought to test for it. But a new doctor I saw knew to check.
The gene mutation means I can't convert the folic acid in food into usable folate. Sounds like such a simple thing but that was the key. Now I take a special sort of folate that is really inexpensive but since I started taking it (and avoiding folic acid) I have not have any anxiety at all.
It's really common - 20 - 35% of the population.
Low B12 levels (under 500) can also cause all sorts of mental health symptoms.
I have been taking a lot of different vitamins but nothing has worked so far...interesting info reed thank you. I will look into it.
Counsellor suggested looking my fear of my car breaking down and asking...really what is the % chance that could happen. probably one in 5000, so why am i worrying...basically replacing a fear with positive thinking. If i figure all the years I've driven, x 5 days a week x start ups at different places, I sure do worry for nothing. How can I re direct that?
Also said people with anxiety are really very creative. How many of these things actually happen. think we should be writers!!
