Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
And it's snowballed from there. I get persistently better, and I use myself as a kind of guinea pig.
I have a theory. I feel like I was isolated and rarified and filled with romance novels when younger, and life, real life with other people who are real other people and not characters in books, are far different than my dream of them. So coming into the real world for me contained a thousand bad, bad shocks.
And each shock took an anxiety attack, and a recovery period from that anxiety attack, to get over it. But each shock has been a new shock. So I don't look like I progress; but I progress all the same. I'm not constantly having a panic attack over the very same thing. Always some difference.
Well: the planet's finite. And my time on it is finite. And same for everyone else. So therefore...
the number of these horrible shocks has to be finite. Logically it must be.
So the sooner I get through them the better. And I have got through so many of them. And I am nearly at the end. I say nearly, I should say mostly. I feel mostly normal now. I'll fall off my perch here or there, but I have more time on my perch than off it. I no longer see happiness as that fleeting state between miserable events, I see the miserable events as fleeting things between my cheerful bits. And that's huge.
So: get stuck in I guess. Get LOTS of rest and sleep. Have LOTS of private time. Accept everything that happens to you, and when you get an attack ask 'what is the world trying to tell me that I don't already know?' I have had to learn to be wrong. That's apparently a big thing, apparently your amygdala response to being wrong like its response to an attacking bear. Well: I did find it hard to learn and be open to change for ages... I'm getting better. I see that as part of the healing too. Letting myself be wrong.
Sorry if that was sheer ramble: just sharing my stuff really.
