Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

No, I would not have asked why you *feel like this.* The fact that these symptoms are posted in the anxiety forum are all the explanation I need. That tightness in the chest, squeezed heart and urge to self-medicate are common anxiety symptoms, whether the current trigger is from a divorce drama, parents not getting you your updated e-toys or the prolonged stresses of life. Anxiety sucks, both literally and figuratively, regardless of the variable triggers for each spin of the not-so-merry-go-round.
And emotional support from people who understand helps with that phenom of ". . .feeling so incredibly lost and hurt and scared." You are not alone JJ. Welcome to the forum. I hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
Maybe talking to a therapist every week would help while you are going through this.
I would also suggest seeing a psychiatrist, to see if they think you need a temporary anxiety medicine while you are dealing with so much stress. And talking to your own therapist (psychologist, etc) would help you too, as it is an impartial person who is there to help you.
I understand the pain of extreme anxiety but I highly advise DO NOT self medicate, a pain of something such as a breakup or bereavement can spark a flame into addiction which is a horrible place to be.
All I can advise is that you stay human ( sounds crazy I know) try to eat well and exercise even if you feel like sh~t. Focus on breathing and mediation and download an app called headspace.
In terms of your relationship, chasing something that isn't there is a horrible process and this can become an endless cycle if you do not stop it. I am no relationship expert so I hope you can find the help you need as you deserve to be happy.
I am sorry for the suffering you are experiencing. From what I gather the potential divorce isn't your idea. That you are a person that gives all to the relationship to the point of sacrifice. Now you sacrificed so much with probably little return. It also sounds like this also is no one or two year marriage that's on the rocks but a long term that was supposed to last. All this at once can bring a storm the size of a hurricane into your life.
The important thing is to understand you are in pain, understand the tight chest needs a release the pain in acceptance instead of trying to fight against it. Allow yourself time in a controlled, safe setting to let it out and cry if you need to and always tell yourself 'this too will pass.'
Keep writing here, find friends that are experiencing the same, find some that you can vent your frustration, anger and anxiety to that will not help inflame it but just be there and listen.
You are embarking on a new life with the only one to worry about is you. it can be terrifying or liberating.
Find a love in your life such as art or song, dance or writing and indulge yourself in selfish enjoyment Love
I admire your courage to reach out, that takes a lot of bravery. Is there anyone you trust who you can talk to about this? I have found that it's always helpful to talk to someone who knows me well. Would you be willing to talk to them?
Let us know how you're doing. You're in my prayers, dear friend.
