Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello all,
I hope you are all doing well! Happy New Year! I know I've been gone for a while, but yeah I have a bit of an update.
So as of last Thursday, my dosage for Zoloft went from 50mg to 100mg. I have been having a bit of anxiety of starting the new dosage since finding out... and my pharmacy dragging to give me my medication until today didn't help. I also was just worried about what side effects I would have from the new dosage. I don't really feel a difference? (I know I won't feel the full effects for like 4 to 6 weeks.. I'm talking about the side effects such as nausea, headaches etc.) And I was more worried because well now that I'm working, I didn't want those side effects to affect my work, but as I'm now on it for a few hours (today was my first time taking 100mg) I have felt.... nothing? I may be having a bit of a dry mouth and some thirst (drinking my water though) But other than that.. I feel okay.
I guess my question is... how did you feel when your dosage went up? How did you cope with the feelings/thoughts about it?
For me initially... it was a little bit of an internal like intrusive thought battle. Half of myself was thinking that it was for the best because I wasn't feeling my best, and I was noticing myself falling back into my depression and having more anxious feelings. But another part of me was also dealing with a bit of feeling like I had failed myself? In the sense that like I worked hard to not fall back into the old habits and feelings.. but they got me again? I know I'm not a failure because my dosage went up, but it was a bit of a struggle for myself.
Has anyone felt this way?
Anyways, I hope you are all doing well. Happy wishes for you all this 2024.

Side effects, that are listed on the sheet the pharmacy gives you, don't happen to everyone. And since you were already taking Zoloft, you will be just fine.
Do you talk to a therapist? That helps me. We have weekly phone sessions and I can just tell her anything and everything, and it helps to get it all out.
No, you didn't fail at anything. Psychiatrists are always upping the doses. They want you to feel better, so they suggest you up your dose and see how that goes.
I have a family member that is on 500 mgs of Zoloft a day!
I think they also go by how much you weigh, etc.... I wouldn't read too much into upping the dose. My psychiatrist is always wanting to increase the doses, and like you said, I get nervous about doing that also.
But you already did it and so nothing to worry about now. Keep up the new dose, try (try!) not to think about it, and just go about your fabulous life as usual! :-) Don't dwell on it. Completely normal for them to adjust doses, they do it all the time.
You're doing great.
Its the way your brain works. I have been put on higher doses of Anxiety
meds over the years. And am so thankful these meds exist to help me.
I didn't have side effects. Everyone is different. Wishing you the best.
I have been on the 100mg for two days so far.. I’ve taken it a couple of hours before going to bed.. but after about an hour I start feeling very sleepy. I think it may make me a heavy sleeper for some hours, but I mean it’s the only side effect I’m having right now, besides the dry mouth (have my water bottle handy) but yeah.. so far.. so good
