Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I had a really bad panic attack today. I think it was the worst one I've ever had. I had felt my anxiety during my fourth hour class right before lunch, but it went away when I started listening to a funny story my teacher was telling. But then I went to lunch, and oh my word. I barely even ate half my lunch because I felt so anxious. I was sitting there, and the anxiety just built. I tried looking around a bit, I got up and walked around for a couple minutes, but that didn't help. After lunch I went back upstairs and my heart rate spiked to 139. My legs went numb, my heart was racing, I couldn't breathe, but at the same time i was hyperventilating. I went and found the teacher that knows about my panic attacks, and he brought me down the hallway to the assistant dean who also knows about my panic attacks. I got there and by that time I was hard core hyperventilating. Both of them had to hold me up as we walked down the stairs, and my hands and face had now gone numb. I could barely walk. And then I got dizzy, and had to sit at the bottom of the stairs. The one teacher had to go get a wheelchair and they wheeled me to the nurses office, where they had me lay down and do some breathing exercises to help me calm down. It took a long time, but finally I could breathe again. Guess I'll have to work harder at distracting my mind. It just doesn't wanna be distracted. Well, they called my mom and she came over and sat with me for a bit. It took an hour, for me to completely calm down, but I got there in the end. But it was terrifying. I'd never had one that bad It's like my anxiety had been building for the last five days or so, and today it just all released. If that makes sense.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Yes, I am sad to admit that it makes sense to me. I've experienced similar. Awareness can be a tricky phenom. Minimizing and/or Normalizing symptoms is a pretty common coping tactic for psych symptoms. When I first drop the denial and/or suppression necessary for that tactic, the symptoms felt far, far worse for the added awareness. They *felt* worse because I was paying attention instead of simply suppressing.

Be patient with the process, Kpossible. Skills take time to learn well enough that they remain available to you in a full-blown crisis. I still see good progress in the way you handled this crisis. You reached out to a trusted member of your support network whom knew the score and they came through for you. You then carried it to the next step by reaching out further for help in processing and recovering from the episode. I am in awe. Healing hopes for all really ARE possible.
Another standing ovation from the Southern Great Plains. Kpossible. Well done, my healing warrior. Steadying support while you continue the good work.
Believe in yourself, especially on the hard days.
As I was reading your post, I was imagining how hard it was and I thank God you handled it well.
I hope you will remain hopeful and strong everyday. You are in prayers, God bless.
