Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

by nature, i am one of those strong, quiet types. there are days where it is a challenge to get complete sentences out of my mouth. monosyllables preferred. i can always write and/or sing prolifically, but speech is often difficult for me. don't make me tell you. let me show you.
somewhere in my first parenting career, i followed the advice of a more experienced mother and started handling tantrums by getting on the floor to kick and scream with them. by lowering myself to their level, i was then in a position to lead them out of their befuddled state. it worked well enough that i am perfecting the technique here in my second parenting career.
as i experiment with techniques, i find myself using it more and more as a therapy tool. the cathartic value of acting out is enormous, even in stuffy, all-adult environments. i had to pay property taxes recently and the system kept throwing out one kink after another. when i let myself pout like an adolescant drama queen, other stuffy adults on both sides of the desk joined in. a sarcastic grin was had by all.
am i making sense?

It's going to get hotter here with Thursday being the hottest. It's noon and 75f feels more like 80 or more.I've been cleaning up the deck in this morning and cleaning the windows outside. Then I cut up a pallet in half, I've decided to call it quits now because I went a bit light headed. Joanne, some drugs we take have an effect on us in the heat, I know a couple of mine do, maybe yours...

I act out at times but in private, like in a room by myself, I’ll scream or spit out the most rage filled rant or fit.
But now that I think back, there was one occasion where I did act out in public, at a Social Security office. I was trying to get something settled for my mom who was in late stage Alzheimer’s at the time. They wouldn’t help me over the phone, said I had to come in. So two hours later sitting there when my number is called I sit in front of this woman and everything I was told I had to do prior to coming to the office was wrong and that I needed to come back with my mother who was completely mentally and physically debilitated at this point. I lost it. I ended my fit by yelling, I am not leaving this office until someone who knows what they are doing resolves this today! I literally sat with my arms folded over my chest like a petulant teenager haha!
in my personal herstory, bureaucratic SNAFUs, such as what you describe and what i experienced in the tax office, have been known to trigger me to rage episodes. once i start raging, i am, quite literally, a loose canon which cannot be reasoned with. those rage hormones are potent drugs served up by a drug dealer (the lymphatic system) who lives inside my own skin. coming down from a rage episode is similar to detoxing a drug addict.
"acting out" is where i allow myself to channel in front of witnesses before my irritations escalate to rage. i'm not sure when or how my channeling exercises escaped the need for privacy, but public channeling seems to invite others to channel along. those bureaucrats and witnesses don't enjoy the SNAFUs any more than i do. the channeling is beneficial for all? for sure it's more beneficial than going for a high powered rifle.
dunno. . . i'm still looking for words for ^it^.
of like the group acting out together over the absurdity of it all de-escalates things before rage ensues?
