Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

My story...
I have been dealing with anxiety and panic disorder for 8 years now. I found out probably a year in that I have agoraphobia. I came on this site looking for support from other people dealing with the same issues because I have no support anywhere else. I do have "support" but not really I should add. My family and boyfriend really cant grasp what Im going through and when I try to explain it they look at me like Im crazy. Luckily what people think about my problem doesnt trigger the anxiety. I was put on celexa and I loved it. I was able to travel and basically live life without worry. Sadly I took myself off of it because I was doing so well and now I back where I started from. I should also add I tried taking the medication (Celexa) again and it made me have panic attacks which it never did when I first started taking them two years ago.
So about 5 years ago and I was lookng through different discussions on anxiety and panic attacks and I came across this one that was talking about this book. The group bascially would work through the book together and support/help each other through the guidlines in this book. I hate having to take medication everyday so instead I want to try this and use that as a last resort. I was wondering if anyone has read the book and how it helped? I also would like to see if anyone would be interested going through the book with me. To be honest Ive only read through the first few chapters and Im very motivated to start living my life again and dealing with this illness.

Hi Aarigo! I have that workbook somewhere (I'm sure I can find it, I think it's in my basement) and had used pieces of it before. My anxiety is currently in a pretty good place (I'm on meds currently and have been through therapy in the past). I would definitely be a support person if you'd like though and could read up on it when I can. I remember it's good information and was helpful for me in the past. It definitely wouldn't hurt me to review it.

I think I have this book as well but would have to.search for it. I'm having big trouble right now with my anxiety (been dealing with mine for almost 15 years now). I know exactly what you are going through when it comes to family and a boyfriend because mine are the same way. They don't understand why we cant just get over it. I would definitely be willing to be a support person because I need all the support I can get too! Hopefully we can conquer this and live the rest of our lives on peace and anxiety free!

I am currently working with this book at the suggestion of my therapist. It has a lot of information and I am hoping that it will help.

Sccooter- I am only on the chapter in the book about relaxation and already have been making HUGE improvements. I think knowing that I have the skill to relax my mind and body is helping. Over the past two days since I started reading this book and learning from it Ive been out of my house for hours without anxiety or panic attacks. I really hope it brings success for you too like it did me so far.
