Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Lately I've been terrified of the eternal return theory. It basically states after we die we would be reborn over and over again and live the same life over and over. Then I heard about the butterfly effect and some people say that could result in our reoccurrences being different then the previous one. This terrifies me even more. I like how things have turned out in my life now and I keep having these awful anxious thoughts about how things could turn out worse in another reoccurrence and the deeper regrets I could end up having to live with. I just wish I could feel safe from all of this somehow. I think some of these thoughts surrounding death and what could happen after are occurring because my great grandmother died earlier this year and she is the first family member I've known well that I've had die. I guess it's just that unknown and lack of control that terrifies me to no end.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
just wondering. . .
for sure, i the information overload makes it easier than ever to work myself into a lather. the good news is that my tools from the bad old days help me recognize when i am spiraling that particular compulsion. the tools do, also. among the tools is that when i start terrorizing myself with highfalutin concepts and theories, i set myself the challenge of attempting to develop them in some form or fashion. you mentioned, "the butterfly effect." i love that movie enough to have watched it several times. that particular movie didn't inspire me to highfaluter phobia, but i have imagined eric bess channeling similar anxieties in order to write that screenplay.
just sharing. . .
gentle support while you sort your own.
For me I try to keep it pretty pragmatic since all I truly know is what I can prove. I believe in myself first and foremost above all else because if I’m breathing, I know I exist. Here. Now. One day I won’t exist. And if there happens to be something beyond, my hope is I will have perfect knowledge in the beyond. And if I have perfect knowledge, I will understand had I known better I would have done better. And now that I know better I will do better. In the mean time, I make every effort to stay present and not give too much thought to the non proven possibilities.
I don’t know. Maybe it’s getting older and now seeing more days behind me than in front of me that has made me so stubbornly rooted in this life vs the next. Thankful for science to keep my feet on the ground I suppose. Otherwise yeah it’s kind of terrorizing oneself. Beliefs seem like they should bring comfort not harm.
Hope you can free yourself a bit from the over analyzing.
I had the same fear. As I don't understand how my conscience a rose how can I ever be sure it won't rise again? This line of thinking would happen a lot before I was saved. I leaned on my own understanding instead of God's.
