I'm on a migraine medicine that has worked beautifully for me for years. I had the option to buy insurance that would've saved me over $200/month but would not cover my name brand medicine or stay with the insurance company that told me nothing would change in the new year.
Fast forward two months to January and the pharmacy told me they can fill my prescription but it will be $2,600. I call the insurance company and they said, "Well, you can still get it. You just have to pay $2,600 for it because we'll only cover generic."
Them being a smart ass didn't help my mood.
All of that being said, I tried it and it did work okay but I'd been putting it off because when you have a migraine, you don't want to "try and see" if something will work.
What I understand about generics - if it helps - is that the active ingredients are exactly the same. The only thing that can be changed are the "fillers." One may use corn starch while another may use wheat. One may use olive oil while another may use coconut oil.
I hope the generic works well for you but I totally get being unhappy about being corralled into making a change you're not comfortable with.
