Now we're starting to get that college is terrific IF someone needs specific training to go into a certain field. But we also know that trade school is a viable and smart alternative for people who want to train to be electricians or chefs.
In short, think about what you want to do, talk to people who work in that field and, if you can, shadow or intern a bit to see if you still feel it's for you. Then ask how they got their first job. What sort of training is required?
One of the best ways to decide is to get out in the world and try stuff out. It's impossible to know what you want to do without enough information.
I have a year left of school but I've had to take the last year and a half off due to health. Now on top of being sick I've lost all motivation to continue as it's repetitive and boring.
I decided I can still go through with school as best as I can but while I do so I will deeply and sincerely research freelancing. So far looking into it, it's going to be a far, far off thing.
I also kind of started already, but it's not super official. I'm doing website and art work for my dad's business he just inherited.
I'm so wired and excited about all of this that I can't sleep. It's almost three in the morning.
