Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

So, I already have bad anxiety, depression and ADHD, not to mention my wife left me a few months back, which has magnified all of my existing problems and made my self-esteem and self confidence plummet. But now with 10 days remaining until I turn 40, I feel my emotions are all over the place. Can anybody give me advice or share their experience. Am I making it a bigger deal than it really is? My wife was 8 years younger than me, so now I just think Im old and past my prime and I struggling to come to terms with againg. Ive made so many mistakes and have so many regrets of what I should have done different, and now hitting 40 makes me feel like my best days and chances at a good life are behind me. Is it really just a number, or do I just need to accept Im not a youngster anymore. I feel ridiculous even posting this, but its really been on my mind.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Honest, look your best, stay as fit as you can. Relax.... Its no big deal. That's in your head.....
I'm sorry about your wife and the breakup.
Life's short, don't waste it worrying so much about tomorrow. Live for today....
You save for tomorrow and hope for the best. But worrying about what's to come, just wastes your time right now.....
40's are GREAT times for a man. Relax......
I have a friend who is 56. She has been going through a lot of personal healing after she was attacked a couple years ago. Suddenly, she is like a ray of sunshine.
Everywhere we go, she lights up other people's day. She has no problem talking and laughing with strangers. She is currently dating and talks about the men she is interested in. Not in a vapid, gossipy way, either. These are people she has made deep connections with.
Every transition is hard. I know I'm only 30, but I also sometimes worry my best days are behind me. But I know it's not true bc I have always had amazing people in my life who were over 50. I always think, what if they had given up? What if they hadn't been there to light up my world? Maybe I can do that for someone else!
Go on adventures. Learn to relax. But it sounds like the first thing you need is healing. Don't underestimate emotional healing! It's very essential in order for you to move forward. Love and peace!
Hello, Screw. Welcome to the forum.
TW. Age is and always has been a place where I trigger allot of people to? ? ? Youth culture psychosis? Marketing madness? ? ? Dunno. . . What is that cultural La La Land where +1 becomes a tragedy greater than the simple math behind it?
I s'pose that one advantage I gained in surviving child sex trafficking is that the further I get from the blood and guts my childhood, the happier I am. At 64, lots of folks think they are being nice when they youthenize me, but. . . Back off, Bub. I'm proud of my silver streaks. I earned every one of them. Save the youthenizing for the dye heads and adult children.
Dunno. . . Guess I'm pretty useless with the age trauma drama. I don't understand them and never have, not even when all my peers were wishing they were older. To my mind, they are a monolith built on quicksand in a culture that just keeps on building new rooms on a logic that keeps sinking quicker than a literal baby can grow into a physical adult. I'll just keep dealing with life as it comes. One day at a time. +1 remains simple math in my strictly personal logic.
Leaving the youth culture cliches to be sorted by the folks who subscribe to them. . .
Welcome aboard.
Look for the happy and positive in the change of the relationship. The responsibility for leaving belongs to the person who left, not the person they left. Your responsibility is to you.
All those details that define things you describe are a part of you. They do not define who you are and they do not define your ability, skill, and knowledge.
Take time to write out positive things you are able to do.
Be looking for ways that what you know about how you learn can help you enjoy the process. In other words, use that to help you make changes for you now.
Add physical activity to help you "in the moment" process your balance. Move around, stay hydrated, and be gentle with yourself. When you find usual thought patterns that are not working for you, distract them with thoughts to help you find different ways to be involved.
Best wishes. You're not alone, and you've taken the important first step in accepting you for you, hurrah!
Have you tried exercising and, why not, build some muscles? Have you tried improving your appearance or changing your wardrobe and feel good when you see yourself in a mirror? What about career…is that something that fulfills you? Maybe go back to school and follow your passion? When you start working on yourself you will notice everything around you start moving towards you in a positive way.
Join a social group like Celebrate Recovery and, if you believe in a superior being who built this universe, you could join a church, or are you already are you part of one? That has changed everything for me…because I have met some great people and found my purpose in life!! You will meet new people and you may find your purpose for your life on earth searching and growing on your spiritual side. I'm a 37 years-old who's got to star all over again in many areas on my life. You can do it!
56 is soooooo much better than 40ish.
