Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Vertigo is one of my own anxiety symptoms, complete with the sensation of spinning. floating and/or moving. Gentle stretches and breathing exercises are my go-to remedies. When the vertigo is accompanied by a feeling of pressure in my sinuses, I will hold my nose and blow gently. It seems to relieve pressure in my middle ear. The same trick also helps relieve tinnitus.
Gentle support while you figure out what works for you.
I started being hyper aware of any sensations that came up. It was kind of the trigger of my health anxiety.
I remember having a conversation with someone and quickly turning my head as I got up, and then I felt like dizzy and out of balance. I for sure thought it was my blood pressure or my heart. When I checked it was higher than normal (looking back it shot up b/c I was scared). I went to the ER.
They said my heart was fine. He suspected I had vertigo, or some eye issue. I then went to another Doctor and had many tests done. He believed that I had labyrinthitis. I had never heard of it. I was sick for 3 months with a sinus/throat infection and he believes that the virus might have affected my ear system.
I notice during this time that I also got cyber motion sickness. I went to the movies and the quick camera angles and motion - made me start feeling panicky and I had to look away and leave. So I know I was also experiencing that.
I went to a seminar and the speaker was talking in front of a brick wall. The pattern of the brick wall was making me dizzy.
It took me months and hindsight to realize a few thing were going on.
1) I was experiencing vertigo - I looked up the Epley Maneuver on youtube and did that until my symptoms subsided. My vertigo came back last year, and I treated it the same.
2) The vertigo and weird sensations was triggering my anxiety -specifically my health anxiety. I was too aware of all the noise in my body - which caused more noise to be created and illnesses associated with them.
3) I laid off the dairy for awhile. I had read that calcium crystals is what gets dislodged in the inner ear tubes and cause vertigo. I reduced my dairy intake, became careful about not getting water in my ears, and slept with a pillow a bit higher.
4) I notice that the other thing that was going on was that I started to read on my phone alot instead of an actual book or tablet. I was scrolling alot, very fast, and I think that aggravated the eyes having to track and stop and track and stop in an up and down motion. So I tried less phone time, and scrolling slowly. I think this affects more people than we realize.
5) I realize it was an eye, ear, and probably a nerve thing.
Now I will say the symptoms create stress and anxiety in you. Then the anxiety and stress can aggravate the symptoms.
I think it's a full circle thing. That's what it was and is for me.
Now you mentioned your head feels like it is floating and a moving sensation. Are you experience dissociating? That's a symptom of anxiety as well.
I hope sharing my experience gave you some times, or at the very least some comfort to know you're not alone.
Sending you light and love!
It does helps to hear from others. I am thinking some anxiety. I have had this for about three years now.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
Have a full body massage done and consider the way the sensation travels through your body during the massage.
The specific 'floating in head' 'moving sensation' lead me to believe you may have gotten a pinched nerve in your head that your body automatically adjusted naturally in the immediate situation.
Anxiety is a natural helper and when it becomes overwhelming, it can take a bit of combination treatment to help bring it back within normal range.
If the massage treatment does not ease the sensation, try some relaxation exercises in different positions to help you determine a more specific location of the affected area.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
I will gladly go for massage. It can't hurt. Lol
