Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
There is speculation among my therapy supporters that I have been in this situation often enough to have normalized it. My childhood conditioning tells me that home is for Normies. Normal, I ain't. At least that's today's synopsis of what my supporters have been trying to tell me. Still chewing. . .
But my lifelong position as the new kid on the block has given me allot of exposure to "Relocation Anxiety." I first heard that term in a debate among my fellow ESL teachers on whether it was a different name for, "The Immigrant Syndrome." There were several other names in the mix. I played Switzerland for that debate. Call ^it^ whatever suits you, my friend. ^It^ is a tough problem, by any name.
And tough problems are easier to solve with emotional support. Still tough, but easier. Hope you find stabilizing support here while you tackle your big transition. Welcome aboard.
Missing family is normal. When you move, you change your routine. Good to reach out and find people in the community to spend time with.
Best wishes with the job!
Remember that you are stronger than the anxiety and that it is natural and you will have plenty of adventures to share with your family when you talk with them.
My husband and I decided to live here in America 17 years ago because of his work. We are 10,000 miles away from our families and friends. Based on my experience, being in a new place and away from family and friends can be tough. I started to connect with my old friends and find new ones through social media. We also found a church that we consider our family.
I hope you can also meet new friends that you can consider your family and you will enjoy your new place. You are in my prayers. Please keep on posting, we care for you. God bless.
