Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I battle a anxiety war everyday. Some who are close to me know about it and others don't. Very very few understand it. I have lost a job, payed high health insurance deductibles from doctor visits. I still somehow manage to lead a somewhat productive life so everyone thinks I am ok. Just like your self I don't sleep at night and worry myself sick. This happens when no one sees it. I am sorry you are dealing with anxiety. It's hell, I know. Hang in there. I am here if you need help.
I would love a 3 day stay at a stress facility to get myself back in order...but that would open me up to ridicule and isn't covered by insurance.
I so agree with your rant. Its not like we choose this, or want to tell people we feel anxious knowing there's a chance they will say "get over it."
Have you tied to journal.....?? When I cant shut off my brain I write down every thought I am having ...in a notebook I keep next to my bed...then my mind can calm down . Kind of fun to read in the morning....
I think that people feel mental illness is due to weakness or even bad life choices or people wanting to play victim. It AMAZES me that people could feel that way, but they do.
They are beginning to recognize that a lot of it IS physical and it's starting to shift the way people think about things. People who suffer from anxiety, depression, bipolar and schizophrenia - as well as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and Alzheimer's - often have a mutation in the MTHFR gene which prevents them absorbing folate and B12 which causes a whole slew of issues.
I think the more we look at it, the more we will realize that "mental health issues" are actually physical issues with mental symptoms.
Here's the link. It's offered in many states in the US - not sure where you're located: http://bit.ly/1rwR2tM
If it's not available, I would suggest consulting a different doctor if you can. Anxiety is a real issue (obviously) and should be accommodated.
Sabrina--if you have a diagnosis the school is obligated by law to educate you, you can have at home tutoring at the school's expense. My brother went through this and that is what they did for him. (of course they started with the threatening--PINS petition -the whole deal---) They cannot just threaten you and leave you without services. If you have complied with their demands for evaluation and you have a diagnosis that prevents you from being there--it is their Legal responsibility to provide you with an education, in the least restrictive environment possible. (Americans with Disabilities Act) ..I know your parents are all over the place right now-but someone needs to mediate for you. It is your legal right to an education--fight for it! I know the anxiety is overwhelming--but you need that hs degree.....go on the offensive and demand your rights...or get someone who can to do it for you!
