Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
My anxiety has been progressing over the past couple weeks. My mom doesn't understand, she is constantly telling me that "You don't even know what a panic attack is" or "I don't understand why you have this whole anxiety thing, nothing is wrong with you, you're okay" and I can't tell her that I'm not. When I had problems with depression and anxiety, I always talked to my sister about it, she was the only person who actually understood. I found out she died 2 weeks ago, that's why my anxiety is up. I feel like I can't talk to anyone, because they aren't my sister. My mom doesn't understand why I can't pay for my own food, or I can't talk to her friends, or why I can't talk in front of classes. She doesn't get it. She tells me that I'm making it up, but my psychologist even said I have general anxiety. She just won't believe that I can't help it. Anyways, I'm writing because I feel so alone. I used to talk to my sister about everything, but now I can't even think of her without choking up. Another thing my mom doesn't fully understand. She was my half sister on my dad's side. But, she was my best friend, my second mom, everything. She changed my diapers, she was always there. We were constantly at the hip, and now I'm never going to get to see her again. My mom is telling everybody that I'm great, and I'm getting over it, but she yells at me because I can't eat and I don't want to get out of bed. She gets mad when I want to wait in the car when we go to the store so I don't have to see anyone. She just doesn't understand, and I feel so alone. i don't know what to do or who to talk to

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Does anyone follow her? She's really got some good tips.
How old are you? Do you still live at home?
Do you have friends to talk to? Are you going to therapy?
And I'm very sorry for the loss of your sister. You sound like you were very close to her. I'm 50 now, but my dad died when I was 22. At the time, he was the ONLY person on this Earth that I was close to ....even in the slightest. So I can relate to your loss.
Is the anxiety tied mostly to your sister's death?
Two weeks is still so new to grief. Takes at least a year. The funeral is often the easiest thing to get through, because people are around and there's things that you have to do. After everyone leaves...those first weeks are the hardest.
Go easy on yourself. See if you can join a grief support group. You're in my thoughts, Patti
Mum herself needs a letter from some respected doctor, telling her you have a disorder. Explaining to her that this isn't made up, and that she needs to pull her head in. She doesn't believe in it because she sees it as coming from moral weakness. Ie you're just a coward. She has no idea but perhaps a professional telling her so might help.
