Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

in my wandering ways, i have grown the notion that pre travel jitters come in many different flavors, from the liberating anticipation of traveling solo to the tour-guide feel of traveling with tourists. monday morning i will be hitting the road for the second road trip with my foster family. last year's premiere road trip went well enough that hubs and i are just fine tuning last year's trip. a whole lot of healing has happened since the string of tragedies which brought them to us just before the corona crowning, but the arrangement still feels new and fragile. our prayer is that keeping the road trip adventurously familiar will help steady the connections while expanding the horizons. just praying and far from certain i've defined this particular flavor of pre travel jitters yet. the kids are bouncing off the walls.
that set of pre travel jitters still feels far more familiar than knowing what to expect from the citizens of coronaville. our trip will take us through 4 states and even here in the state where i've lived out most of the coronaville experience, the mandates i read on the internet seldom match the interpretations i experience in real time. for sure, the local interpretations are quite far from consistent. it seems likely that the local mandates of 4 different states will vary even more radically. dare i even attempt researching, much less translating the current local mandates? i'm thinking to just go and see what unfolds.
gotta run. baby sis needs to be scraped off the ceiling where big bro and big sis playfully tossed her. that's not quite what i meant by, "working together."

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Everything went great, the flights, the hotel, the rental car, just a few minor hiccups but nothing that wasn’t easily solvable.
I didn’t do any mask mandate research. Instead I just packed a mask, in case a sudden mask insurrection arose in the state we visited and I needed a mask stat, but alas, nothing. Saw a few people here and there wearing masks but otherwise, faces were out and about, and they were beautiful to see.
I like the go and see what unfolds approach, if you are taking votes, haha!
i am happy to say that there is no airline travel on the agenda. the post-911 mandates sucked all the fun out of that and i've been avoiding it like the plague since 2002. i am not even curious what a covidic airport looks like.
to the best of my awareness, commercial air travel never has been kid friendly. i've had a blast taking kids on trains, boats and buses, but commercial planes are stuffier than a corporate board meeting and not a lick more kid friendly.
minor hiccups to be expected on any road trip. it's just part of the adventure.
Best to you with your preparations!
i used to travel with hand sanitizer just because places to wash my hands are not always readily available on the road, but i'm afraid of how the children use the stuff these days. since march 2020, schools are teaching pre-k students to bathe in the stuff and i haven't allowed it in the house since fall 2020 when i caught big brother gargling with it. moderation does not come naturally to humans, especially the young ones. big bro sincerely believed gargling with sanitizer was safer than risking covid and the safety made it well worth the enduring the foul taste.
sigh. . . not on my watch, sweetie.
the only thing harder than finding a balance is keeping a balance.
Best to you while you prepare.
god, please grant me simplicity.
our little ship of fools launches in the morning.
