I started cymbalta a week ago on 30mg. No side effects from it and seem to help with my crying and fears a little. docs plan is to increase it today to 60mg. I have to take that today and i am scared to death. i am afraid i will start having side effects or feel bad. i have worked myself into a panic state over this. does anyone think if i tolerated this far that it will bother me when i increase it to the 60mg. doc is doing this because that is the recommended dosage for my anxiety and fears. please help i am so scared right now. one of my fears is i am afraid to take meds.

It is possible to develop side effects from ANY medication at day 1 or day 1000. Is it possible you will have a problem? Yes. You can sit and say "What If" all you want, but all "What If" is is "Let's Pretend Something Bad". I have anxiety about medication too, but I am also very sensitive to drugs and have had several severe reactions. The less medication I am on, the better. If the 30mg is helping you, ask the doctor if you can stay on it for a while longer. If it's not (and by virtue of the fact that you're afraid to up the dose, I'd say you have more work to do) ;-) then up the dose. What's the worst that can happen? You've already taken the drug. It's not going to strike you dead if you up the dose. If you're nervous, ask the doctor if you can titrate up more slowly. I believe Cymbalta comes in a dose smaller than 30mg.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to try 60mg and see what happens. wish me the best

Your body is either sensitive to a chemical or it isn't. If you tolerated 30 mg without side effects, then your body is not sensitve to the chemical and no dose of it is going to cause you problems. The increase will do nothing more than help you. Take it and feel blessed that your body responded so well to this med. Also note - it takes a MINIMUM of two weeks and an average of 4 weeks to feel the effects of cymbalta. So if you've only been on it for a week, there is no way it can be giving you the full effect. Why are you going up in dose before you have been on the 30 mg. long enough to see its full effectiveness?

lmfclcls my doctor is the one that prescribed the medicine this way. she wanted to slowly start me on 30mg and move up to 60. she advised 60mg is used to treat anxiety and panic better. that is reason for increase. does make since what you said that if my body can tolerate the 30 i should handle upping the dose. thanks for the advice.

greetings, cis! the one important key to this issue is the trust you have in your doc. DO you trust him/her? if so, TELL him these concerns. if you DONT trust your doc, then you're already setting yourself up for a fall. COMMUNICATE, and expect the DOC to do so as well. say you DO up the dosage, and start NOT feeling so well, or have reactions. you have to be able to have access to your doc immediately and be able to discuss with him whats going on. that connection with your doc, cis, is the ONLY bridge you have to getting some help with this as far as medication goes. I've got a friend who just takes the meds the doc gives her without question. she doesn't discuss side effects or ANY effects for that matter then wonders why things aren't working. I know its not MUCH advice but geez, docs today are hard enough to deal with, and you GOTTA trust the one you do have. good LUCK cis, and let us know how this is going for you.
