I thought I could keep my panic attacks at a managable level with ativan and breathing techniques and was doing alrihgt for a few weeks. This morning though I had a monster of a panic attack and wound up in the emergency room. I've been averaging a panic attack a day for the past few weeks, and have conseuqnetly been taking a lot of ativan. My physician perscribed me Paxil and says she thinks it will lessen my dependency on Ativan and help a great deal.
I am VERY nervous about beginning Paxil treatment. After doing some research on the side effects of the drug I'm absolutely terrified. Does anybody have any helpful advice for me about taking Paxil? Anything I should be prepared for or avoid? Please do NOT post Paxil horror stories here. You will scare me senseless.
Thanks in advance.

Paxil "works" ok, but the problem I had was a lot of weight gain. No one told me that this could be a side affect. And I don't mean 5 pounds, I mean like 30 or 40 pounds. Beyond that, it worked ok. Good luck.

I am on it now and it was working for awhile , but now it doesn't seem to be working that much. I have only been on it for month. I havn't gained any weight YET.

took the first pill today. started feeling some hot flashes but that was about it. I'm not super converned about weight gain. I've heard that's a major issue so I will try to make sure to watch what I eat and excercise a bunch. I'm more worried that Paxil will make me a walking zombie and that I'll have trouble coming off. Also I've heard that for the first week or so you might get MORE anxious instead of less. Does anyone have a really successful paxil story? Anything that can give me some degree of faith in this medication would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure Paxil and other meds may work for some people, but meds didn't work for me. I also wasn't told about the difficulty coming off of these meds. If you can avoid the meds and try psychotherapy, it may work much better. I am med free, but it was an steep uphill battle. I will keep the details of my personal horror story to myself, but the posts you have read are true about Paxil and other similar meds.

I've had really good luck with Zoloft and Celexa. I haven't tried Paxil. I haven't really had any side effects, except some sexual side effects with Zoloft. Coming off of the medication without slowly decreasing the dosage is difficult and dangerous, but when I came off of Zoloft and went on Celexa it was fine.

On it for four years now. manages my GAD well. Side effects subsided. Important to build up to the full dosage on a schedule - same with tapering off. Took zanax with it while ramping up to take the edge off - cognitive techniques to put your symptoms in place for the time being would be good. Never need zanax anymore, not even when flying or in stressful situations. sometimes increase the dosage during difficult life events -

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
