Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello- I'm new here so I may be writing about a topic that has been discussed millions of times? but looking for help-
I have been having panic attacks constantly now for 3-4 months, bad ones where I can't even enter a store- if I'm at a supermarket in line- I have to usually get out and go walk around to wait for the line to get shorter even then it's pure hell, I feel like i'm gonna drop right there on the spot. And now just recently I get them when I do a short drive about a mile to pick up my kids at school I just freak out and what should be a 5 min ride feels like forever. I take xanax .25 when I feel like this so pretty much every day or other day- I don't want xanax.
I barely drink- maybe a beer or two some wine once a month if that, I snus which is tobacco
I have had panic attacks for 20 yrs on and off? but these are just so much more intense maybe because i'm older 48??
I'm looking for advice on how to come up with a plan to beat these- Not a huge fan of doctors they never seemed to help in the past-
Anyone have any Ideas or ways you have coped or beat these dreadful things?

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

1st of all, your not alone. It sounds like a type of social anxiety.
Does that sound right to you?
I leave my full basket of food often in stores. Not from anxiety though. I just have no patience for busy stores and managers that don't add enough checkers. LOL...
There was a girl either here or in another support site, that said she bought some Vitamins for mood changing. I'm sorry, I don't know which. But they were inexpensive and the bottle explained what for. She's been taking them and says they have helped her a great deal. And they also have helped her sleep.
I'm sure if you went to a health food store or a store that sells a large assortment of vitamins, you would find them.
Did you know, if you look in the internet. You can find foods and herbs that help with anxiety and depression? You can also find a list of foods that are bad or make anxiety and depression worse.
Like any diet.... most people don't like change. I only know three people that have stuck to a good diet for emotional stability. And they say it has changed their lives. All three had depression and anxiety all their lives. One also had severe migraines and no longer has them.
I'm a firm believer of foods, herbs and vitamins over medication.
But I agree some people may need medication too.
Anyway, keep posting and you'll find plenty of support here. There's a lot of good people in these groups.
Currently on Khlonopin and it has helped me run my errands at least, although the symptoms are not totally gone.
That's a great idea. I usually mention exercise for others and forgot about it.
Exercise is one of the best was for our bodies to release Dopamine and serotonin into our bloodstream.
Those are the feel good chemicals which help to fight anxiety and depression.
Pattern of thoughts can be broken with addition of motion (gentle motion can be calming) from a massage across your eyebrows release a feel good endorphin naturally, to exercise which releases feel good all over, this is natural, and works fast.
Key to making it through panic attacks is knowing they go 1/2 hour to disappear naturally. Staying hydrated, gentle motion, distraction with different words, and breathing all work to move naturally through the panic attack moments.
Keeping a journal helps figure out what happens just before, and it may be a single tiny thing that you notice. Having that will help you move in a direction to a balance that works to minimize the attacks.
Best wishes.
Different supplements help different people. It's a matter of finding what is needing the most in the moment. Some times it is different, so something else works better that time.
This group is a great place to find ways to be supported as you learn how to make your anxiety work for you.
