Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
a pain in my back near my left shoulder blade that feels like a bad muscle cramp. If I lie on a heating pad in a dimly lit room and listen to quiet music , it usually goes way in 30 minutes. When my mind relaxes, my body follows.
My Dr. has done a check up. And she did say that Anxiety can cause physical pain. And that def does NOT help...especially when your a hypochondriac like myself!
I always have lower back pains, thigh pains and pain in my arms.
What I try to do is make it a point to relax at least 30 min a day. Or relax right before bed. Read a nice book and let my mind relax! Drink some nice warm tea!
I agree with BonTemps, when the mind relaxes, the body follows.
I have a couple anxiety disorders and chronic pain from a spine injury. Sometimes when I'm feeling good, I can compartmentalize my back pain from my anxiety. Other times, like when I'm having a pain storm, I can't and don't really feel like trying either. It seems that my doctor only cares when he is trying to justify not writing me for pain meds.
To me anxiety and pain go hand-in-hand. Why wouldn't it? If you're hurting all the time it's going to make you anxious. If already anxious, then you worry about when the pain is coming back. If you not anxious, having pain long enough will make you anxious. You can only spend so long anxiously awaiting you doctors opinion, anxiously awaiting more pain medication, or anxiously awaiting test results before an anxiety disorder starts to emerge. Why this is a total mystery to physicians is beyond me.
I'm fed up with ya!
