the value of artistic channeling is what makes me wonder if this rant is really off topic. when i can call myself an artist, there is zero doubt that the computer is my medium and has been since the middle 70's when the only computer graphics available were created by overlaying dot matrix characters. my star trek video game consisted of x's (klingons) and o's (federation) shooting special characters at one another. getting hit by an x's hashtag was ever so devastating to the o's. game over. time to reload that massive collection of punched cards that held the game. shhhhhhh. . . don't tell the muckety mucks that we are playing games with their multi-million dollar toys. of course i have played with other art mediums, but they don't purr beneath my fingers like digital media.

the trigger for this spin on the not-so-merry-go-round was a pre-k assignment for baby sis. she needs a current picture of herself and her family for the "getting to know you" assignment. the need to provide pre-k level hard copy has brought my artistic frustrations rip roaring to front and center. the cloudy-it invasion of my digital art studio remains a festering wound.

by the time the first pc's became available in the mid 80's, someone who could "draw" a line on a computer screen could pretty much write their own ticket. i did and over-worked my way to full carpul tunnel tendon seizures. i'll fast forward past that tedious recovery and pick up the story around the turn of the millennium when i had recoverd far enough to be able to use my digital art as a therapy channel. internet connections were still too slow and awkward to handle the memory intensive graphics files but the first internet robocops were gearing up with their membership checks, etc. i began to feel like picasso attempting to work in a studio in grand central station. the art supply sales force was demanding the right to rearrange my studio at their convenience. for my own good, of course. relearning formats was supposed to be fun. the pop up ads, etc., were just my benefactors looking after my continued well-being. big brother knows best.

just venting. . . is there an app for that?

back to the current day need. which app do i choose for getting hard copy fit for a pre-k assignment? rhetorical question, my technically empowered gurus. i know where to look for the plethora of options. these days i spend more hours virtual shopping than creating.
