Hi all , i've taking olft for a year or two now but lately i'v been on and off of it
because i was unsure of it now that I've come of things feel doubled anxiety wise at times i'm thinking of going back but scared that it will mess me up , my so called shrink say shes fed up with me m idont know what too do need some advice, sorry for the wall of text.

why did you come of them in the first place?
some people stop the medication becase they feel better when all the time its the meds that are making them feel better, if you stopped them because they were making you ill or wasnt helping the anxiety/depression then go and see your doctor.
I would go back on them properly if they were ok for you, sometimes the withdrawls are worse than the illness. vonny x

You never, never stop a drug cold turkey, you need to wean off it slowly, so yes get back on it now and if you don't like it ask your doctor for a withdrawal plan, if they do not give you one, get another Dcotor! but yes, start it now, after a year it is in your body andyou could be feeling big side effects coming off of it to quick!

I took myself off of Zoloft and it was scary! My head felt so wierd. My sis did the same thing and felt the same way but wasn't working when she did it so she could be at home. I had to go to work feeling like that.

They do work very well but I didn't like the sexual side effects.

Don't know your whole story but if your shrink says she is fed up maybe it's time to find a new shrink and stop paying her!

Frankly, and I've had to learn this the hard way, myself, what you want doesn't matter, because what you need is to take your medication. No one wants to take these kinds of meds, but if it helps, and it sounds like it does, then you've got to accept that you need to take it anyway. You may need a new therapist, but you also need to give up this preconceived notions that are not helping you.

I agree with all of the above. I take Wellbutrin. I didn't want to be "on" anything, so after a few week I thought I don't need this and then I'd go off them. I'd soon find that it was the drug that was making me feel better and that I did actually need to be on them. I had to go through this several times for it to click in my fat head though. You never stop an antidepressant (or others drugs for that matter) cold turkey, so that may be adding to your problems as well. As for your therapist, some times we need someone to be tough and tell us "how it is" or you might just need to check out a new therapist. It took me a while to find a good one, and I've actually seen two good ones in the past. Both helped me with certain problems. One therapist help with what she could and then I outgrew her and moved on to another who helped me with what she could. Good luck, I hope you find what works for you. ~HUGS~
