Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi all. I've been reading your posts and you all seem like a wonderful group of people.
i'll start with my background.
My anxiety (little did I know) started with a new job and the most horrific boss that pretty much yelled/cursed and pointed fingers in my face all day). Last fall I started Xanax then decided in January to get a new job (not a job hopper but knew I had to leave after 8 months...only 3 prior jobs in 32 years). I happily left that job in mid/late March and got horribly sick 4 days later. Thought it was the Virus but have tested negative for it and antibodies. All of it landed in my sinuses. I started the new job very sick for benefits for my family to not lapse. Struggled, REALLY struggled with this great new job/company for a few months while trying to sort out sinus surgery in horrible pain. 3 weeks before the surgery was scheduled I had a full blown panic attack and landed in the hospital. I have not been back to the new job since 6/29...STD ticking away and the panic remains. I thought I would feel better after the surgery. My sinuses did, but the panic didn't go away and got progressively worse. By 8/7 I nearly went in patient. On 8/9 I found a fantastic Pychsciastrist and started Rexulti on 8/10. It's definitely helped but still in moderate to minor panic quite often during the day and a ton at night. She added Seroquel for sleep. Helped for one night. I take .25mg or .5 mg Xanax as needed.
I've lost 35 pounds in 3 months...they think my Thyroid is super fast but can't find any open appointments with an Endocrinologist...
I am so restless/frustrated at my lack of ability to function and feel like i'm jumping out of my skin all the time. I am used to running from 5:30 a.m. to bedtime, with work, 3 kids, a good social life and the means to take a good amount of wonderful vacactions.
I essentially sit around now staring at the walls getting angry that I am not "me"...I can't do anything for my kids, can't drive, can't socialize.
I try to stay "Present" but have not been successful most of the time.
My husband has been out of work since March and I'm not getting paid either (lots of stupid paperwork issues with the STD company)...VERY stressed about finances.
I have no real hobbies since I never had time for anything other than my busy life. I would see friends and go out to eat on my free time. Now I don't want to leave the house or even see my own parents who are incredibly loving and supportive.
I guess I needed to vent and not feel so alone.
Thanks for listening

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

You need to get up and start doing. Stop thinking.
Make a daily list and mark off everything you do and look at how much you accomplish.
Write in a private journal and stay hydrated.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
The more you vent safely, the easier it is to find calm.
Drinking a LOT of water.
My hands are so shaky it's even hard to type so writing is even harder but I will continue to vent.
Thanks again.
Buy a progressive relaxation CD. It will take time to begin
to work but listen every night at bedtime. You should feel
more relaxed eventually. Then you can calm yourself physically
without the CD. Maybe try Yoga, aerobic dancing tapes, etc.
In my own lifelong dance with anxiety disorder, a safe place to vent and feel less alone with the condition helps tremendously. Often I **know** what I need to do to manage a particular go-round, but the knowledge gets lost in the chaos of obsessive thought loops and generalized worries about ? ? ? just about everything?
This very forum is one of the safe places I have found for venting and sorting. I hope it serves you as well as it has served me. You are not alone. Welcome aboard.
Listening. . .
I've tried the calm app and tapping (didn't help too much). I will try music next. I'm finally eating well again and gaining some of the weight back.
Trying to keep busy too but i've been home for so long there's little left to do around my house
