Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello everyone. I am very short on friends and don't have a huge support group other than my parents. I started therapy last week but my next appointment isn't until July 1st so that is a long way away. I'm basically having major anxiety about the whole virus and have picked up many annoying OCD habits like checking my temperature continuously and checking my forehead to see if I'm sweating. I also am continuously trying to see if I can smell and taste (one of those ways is by smoking cigarettes to see if that's changed in taste which means I'm smoking way more than I used to). I got super tired earlier around noon and panicked because I read a story about how a guy who had it first noticed by how fatigued he got. Anyways just putting some of this out there because I feel a little alone in all of this with everyone in my life.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Your anxiety on the virus can seem founded based on the TV coverage. They have made it sound like it is worse than the Black Death. But this is not true and not factual. Let’s say worst case scenario you get coved. You have a 98.2% chance of recovering. And you are young. Most coved deaths are in those over 65. So even if the worst happens you are probably going to be all right.
My prescription for you, if you want to stop worrying, is to stop watching the news. Read a book in stead or a coloring book. Journaling is also a good choice and something that will help with you anxiety.
Welcome again the DS.
I also don’t have friends or people to talk to, but here we can talk to each other.
This is the right group to have understanding, encouragement, and acceptance.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
Stay hydrated. Keep a private daily journal. Make a daily 'to do' list and mark off those things to help you see what you are doing.
