Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi-just joined the community. Diagnosed with anxiety disorder in 2000-with help of therapy and meds, it's been under control for many years. Recently had some incidents which brought on some intense anxiety, and now I'm back in an anxiety cycle. Looking for help to relearn coping skills and gain confidence that I can control this again. Moved about a year and a half ago, and was managing anxiety well for so long that I didn't get a new therapist when we moved. With it coming back and rearing its ugly head, I've started hunting for a new therapist. Have a couple I'm trying out this week--altho always hard to start over when I was with the same therapist for 9 years. Also questioning upping my meds, primary care physician is managing them at this point, and has agreed that she can up the dosage, but it's always a little discouraging as I want to be able to handle this with as little reliance on medication as possible. Altho I have come to accept and not be ashamed that meds are definitely needed in my treatment regimen. Just hard to believe that for the last over 10 years, I've had a lot of confidence that this was well in check. It takes a few weeks of an anxiety cycle to ruin the confidence and I need to get it back. Thanks for listening

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
I don't quite believe you are really starting over. Yea, therapist shopping, etc. is a pain, but you licked this once, already. I betcha dollars to wishes you have a few more clues to work with than you did with that 2K dx. I'll also bet that you can do it better this time than you did the first time.
Keep us updated. I wanna know whether I'm collecting wishes or paying out dollars.

In your cogent times, try to realize anxiety doesn't help, I think some people feel that being worried is somehow constructive. I have a family member who is pro-Trump and now worried about the direction of our country (could be vice-versa for other people). The point we've told her is that worrying will not make it better and don't think you're accomplishing anything with anxiety, the optimal approach is to realize you don't control gov. so relax and try not to worry. .
