I am currently a college student working on my bachelor's degree in social work. For one of my classes it is recommended for us to join an online support group. I have been dealing with anxiety for about the past four years and decided that maybe this is one of the best things I could do for myself. One of the biggest issues I have been dealing with is the feeling of being worthless seeing that only a few months ago, my best friend of 5 years and I had a huge falling out. After not speaking to her for months, I am now starting to see that maybe separating myself from her was a good idea. She had been very controlling and would get upset with me for silly reasons like having lunch with other friends and not going to dinner with her. I now know, that the friendship we had was borderline abusive and I am happy that I was able to remove myself from the situation before it got worse. Sometimes though, I feel as if maybe it was my fault and I was terrible friend that refused to work things out with her. We go to the same university and honestly, I am terrified that I may run into her seeing that one of the last time I spoke to her, she had confessed that her roommate had been taking photos of me and sending them to her. There are some times when I honestly feel a bit unsafe on campus because of this.

Is there any psychological support available to you on your campus that you can go to discuss this situation with and why you feel “worthless” when you seem to have become aware of the inappropriateness of this former friendship? Praise to you for having the strength and confidence in yourself to not try to revive an unhealthy friendship out of neediness.
