Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

For the most part I consider myself a strong, upbeat, athletic individual. I like to help others, thrive on sunny days, and enjoy being around my friends. However, at times of personal stress (not work related) I feel very overwhelmed. And sometimes I become very upset and cant stop crying. I recently saw my doctor because my husband thought I was either depressed or menopausal (age 43). Im neither. After the discussion with my doctor, she explained that my periods of being extremely upset are like anxiety attacks for me. Based on my circumstances she has prescribed celexa at 10 mg and I just started taking it this past Friday. So far the only side effect that I may have is headaches but I also struggle with sinuses so its difficult to tell.
Im still questioning for myself as to whether I need to take celexa so I thought Id post to get some feedback. Heres a little more info about me:
Im currently working in a job where Im completely bored. Its not near challenging enough for me to keep my brain engaged all day on work. Im kicking myself for quitting my previous job as I feel as though I made a mistake to move.
Ive recently experienced a fallout with a friend of whom Ive been very concerned about since March and still concerned about their well-being. But Im trying to not reach out.
I have a husband that has a family history of addiction, depression, etc that I sometimes have to deal with.
Im a runner and recently tweaked my ankle and cannot run. Im trying to replace the physical activity with swimming, cycling and rock climbing. But running is good therapy.
I do experience extreme highs with fitness. And I feel extreme lows at work.
With recent fallout from friend and issues with husband, my mornings are incredibly tougher to motivate myself to get up and go to work. And I feel like I can barely manage 5 days of work without getting very frustrated.
I recently stopped taking bromocriptine per doctors orders to treat a pituitary tumor. My follow up is in September to determine effectiveness.
I do tend to get a low feeling (I dont know if its depression) in the winter months. Last winter I challenged myself to a marathon to force myself to get outside for running & sunshine.
I do recognize that I have a lot to be thankful for. But I do feel like I dont understand the times when I get so upset that I cannot stop crying. Its like the flood gates are wide open. I typically dont cry but when it happens I cant stop it. And the harder I try to stop, the worse it gets. Anxiety attack? I really dont know. However, my doctor suggested to try this and said it could help me not care so much about being bored at work too. I also read it can help with menopause

If you find your moods/feelings are affected by the change in the seasons, then look for activities that you can enjoy in the different seasons.
As for the relationship changes, it is hard to do a "one size fits all" trick, so put your well-being first, and build your responses towards improving your well-being. You can not change how everyone else handles the problem, however, you can change how it affects you.
Best wishes.
