Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello, and if you're reading this, thank you for taking the time to do so. I really appreciate it.
My name is Erica, I am 27 and happily married to my husband, and we have a beautiful 3 year old daughter together. Unfortunately, my days are challenged by high anxiety issues.
I do see a therapist once in a while, and I do take medication, but I can't seem to get better. I could really use some advice on how to cope with my anxiety.
I am due to go to a work holiday party with my husband soon, and that means we have to leave our 3 year old daughter with a sitter. The sitter is a close personal friend of the family, and they are someone I trust completely. The sitter is not the issue, but I am worried that something will happen to my husband and I (car accident, etc) and I will never get back to my daughter. I am so anxious about going to this holiday party, when I should feel excited. All I keep thinking about is "what if" something happens to me on the way to the party, and I never see my daughter again. And then my mind starts racing, thinking about what would happen to her. Can someone please help me? I can't handle thinking this way anymore. I should be able to enjoy a night out with my husband without feeling overwhelmed and trapped by my anxiety.
Thank you.. Hope to hear from someone soon.

i feel for ya hon! wish i had some good advice for you. i have anxiety and depression, and find that my anxiety probably impacts my life more than anything. i hate to sound so pro-meds....but what are you taking? maybe you need a medication adjustment. of course therapy and coping skills are great, but in my experience, for me at least, it takes the right meds to go along with it. i take lexapro which is for GAD and depression, and then i have xanax. the lexapro made i big difference in my thought pattern. i used to constantly think i was gonna crash and die in the car for example. and that has for the most part stopped. i don't have kids, but i can imagine the type of anxiety you are having. hope it gets better and you get some relief and enjoy your night out.

Thank you so much for replying to me. I do take zoloft and a medication for my anxiety, but I was hoping to try something other than medications. I have a lot of medication allergies, and I get nervous when trying new meds. I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression and Anxiety at a young age, but this Anxiety is just so awful :(

Breathe in, breathe out - slowly. Accept your irrational fear as a symptom of your anxiety. Know that is what it is, no more. Breath in, breathe out - slowly. She will be in good hands. In - out. Nothing is going to happen while you're out. In - out. You need time with your husband. In - out. Have fun and don't worry.

Hmmm. Have you tried any B vitamins to help with the anxiety? What about chewing on come celery sticks or better yet... juicing a celery stalk with two apples. Delicious and it helps with anxiety. Hope you feel better. :)
