As GreenEyes mentioned, I wanted to say that they do have medications that really help with social anxiety. They are called SSRI medications, and some are really good at calming anxiety and fear and it makes it easier to talk with people.
You did a great job reaching out on here! Do you talk to anyone online or by phone, texts, apps, support groups online like this one, etc, as online friends? Those things might be a good place to start socializing, before you do too much in person. And remember, that lots of people get nervous in real life situations about what to say, what do these people think of me, etc. It is completely normal to feel like that, and they are probably feeling the exact same way about themselves.
Baby steps... You will get there. Takes practice. Be gentle and patient with yourself.
