Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi there I'm new to this forum and really any online forum but my anxiety has been so bad recently I thought maybe connecting with other people who suffer from anxiety could help. I've had anxiety for years now and it's based on the fact that I'm scared of death (me or people I love). Anytime I get the slightest illness or pain etc. my mind races and I'm left with crippling anxiety. I've been to therapy over the years which has helped a lot of but I've never stayed with it consistently due to lack of insurance etc. but I'm really trying to start therapy now consistently since it's been so bad. I used to go to the ER all the time because I thought I was dying but it was just panic attacks and it's been years since I went to one because I thought I had a hold on my anxiety. However, recently I went to the ER for chest pains and they ran every single test and I was fine but turns out I had bronchitis so the anxiety made my chest pain worse. I'm away at school right now so I'm not with my family so I think the combination of being alone and being sick really just sky rocketed my anxiety because I was isolated for days and was just stuck in my room. It didn't help that the medicine I was on caused insomnia so it just felt like an endless cycle of anxiety for like 5 days straight. I've gotten better now and I'm finally getting back to campus today so I'm hoping that being integrated back into society will help with my anxiety because usually distractions and hanging out with people help me. The nights are the worst though because it's just me in my room with my thoughts. It's almost like I dread going to sleep every night because I know I'll get anxiety. Whenever I think about anxiety I get anxious it's so annoying. I've recently started meditating and tapping every morning and night so I hope this helps but I hate the hopeless feeling you get when nothing seems to be going right in your life. I always say "it's always something with me I can never just be" and I almost look at anxiety as a punishment for something I've done. My mom is a big help as she also suffers from anxiety and so talking to her and praying have really helped me I always feel better when I speak to her but obviously I can't speak to her 24/7. I just wish my brain and my mind could be on the same page like I know rationally nothing is wrong with me I'm not dying and that anxiety is just a part of who I am and I just have to accept that and live with it but I swear the moment I start getting palpitations or chest pains or pressure all the rationale just leaves my body and I start to assume the worst. So I guess I just wanted to hear from you guys on any tips you may have and listen to your stories so I don't feel so alone. Hope you all have a great day :)

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Things that work for me:
Try to practice gratefulness. I think of three things every day that I am thankful for. Even if it's just being able to walk, shower, drive, etc.
I watch Joyce Meyer a lot. She has a lot of life experiences that she shares that may help you.
Try not to spend too much time alone. We are our own worst enemies....thinking about the past or worrying about the future.
Take things an hour at a time. When I would think about a meeting at work that was two days in advance, I'd get myself all worked up. Dumb.
Get outside and take a walk. Even if you're only taking a short one. Air and movement are good for you.
Hope this helps!
You are writing it out which is a huge step forward in finding what will work for you to figure out your better balance.
Stop. Pause. Breathe. Repeat until clear headed and calm. This will help you reset the anxiety back within a normal range.
Health anxiety is one of the few flavors of anxiety missing on my own anxiety smorgasbord, but I am ever more convinced that anxiety is anxiety, whatever the focus. Left unchecked, my anxiety can blow just about anything out of proportion.
My own anxiety management toolbox holds more tools than I care to type in a single sitting, but I believe the most important tool in that box is sharing within my therapy support network. Getting my anxiety into words and sharing those words in a safe place works wonders for helping me know which tool to pull out of my box. In addition, taking the time to care about other people's anxiety helps me review and fortify the progress I've made.
This very forum is one of the nodes on my therapy support network. Emphasis on "Network." It takes a proverbial village to live a healthy life. It helps ALLOT to have more than one place I can go for support and assurance that I am not alone my anxiety
Welcome aboard. Share freely. Sort often. You are not alone.
Anxiety and depression are such difficult things to deal with. I'm sorry to hear that you have been having panic attacks. You are not alone. Try to focus on what you are GOOD at. Try to tell yourself that you are a strong person because you are looking for help. You came to dailystrength to release some fears and to feel like the world can be a place of healing. Take one day at a time. Believe in YOU! Get/look up affirmations to help you get thru your day and esp at night.
Maybe watch comedies and listen to music that makes you feel good. You can get thru this!
Make sure to be kind to yourself because I have realized that anxiety is caused by fear of future events. I have been working on reading all about anxiety and it helps to educate yourself on self help. There is a lot of good information on line. I also take a little medication to ease my anxiety when I need to. Talk with your doctor about that.
I wish you only the very best and know that people care. This site has been very helpful to me and I find the people genuine and kind.
