Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
1) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This is a type of therapy that helps you examine the way you think.
2) The Work by Byron Katie. This can be a little hard to grasp but I find most people with anxiety are pretty darned smart and they get the bits that will help.
Part of The Work is to ask yourself four questions when you have a thought. The first question is: "Is it true?" Question #2 is "Can you absolutely know it's true?" Question #3 is "What happens when you believe that thought?" And question #4 is "Who would you be without the thought?"
Byron has a free workbook on her website (thework.com)
3) Meditation can help a lot too. Brainsync has a lot of good guided meditations that can help you change your mind set.
4) Listening to uplifting music and positive movies can shift your thinking. If you're steeping yourself in bad news and negative music, depressing movies, etc. you're likely to feel more negative.
5) Pay attention to how you're talking about life. Maybe keep a grateful journal. When you talk with people think of positive things about your day.
It's a lot of work but it will have a positive impact on your health, relationships and every other aspect of your life.
