Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I can only advise you to watch your posture and, as I said earlier, consciously relax your muscles until you've trained them to be relaxed on their own. Other than that and laying down when you need to, I cannot say.

I'm not always aware of how tense I am because I'm too busy focusing on the situation that is happening.
I try to be more aware of my body symptoms--neck tight, headache lurking, hands shaking, etc. When I realize I'm having these body symptoms, I do my deep breathing first. Even when other people are there. I've practiced doing the deep breathing with my eyes open, so it doesn't look like I've zoned out. This gives me some space so I don't have the constant panic attacks. The more panic attacks I have, the tighter my neck gets.
If you can actually get away from the situation for a few moments (going into the bathroom can be helpful--at least it's usually private) you can do the deep breathing better.
I love massage therapy, but it does get expensive and I can't have a massage therapist travel with me like these celebrities do, so I need ways to stop myself from going into panic mode.
Exercise is good. Even if you offer to empty the garbage, it gets you away from the situation that is causing the panic at that time, and it gives you a space to refocus.
I hope you carry around a small paper with a dozen or so affirmations to read when this panic sets in. When I first started doing affirmations, at the insistence of the therapist, I thought they were kind of dumb, but now I understand that this is just another tool to refocus yourself on being there for yourself. Try this. It's been helpful.
I know this is a long post for what seems like a short comment by you, but for me this tight neck is a major symptom of anxiety, so I'm constantly trying new ways to deal with it.
Hugs and good luck!
