Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

in my psychotic states, i tend to "delusions of grandeur" where i believe i am the bestest advice-giver, owner of all truth, etc., etc. why do i need to learn social skills. it only makes me available to morons who aren't worth knowing, anyway, especially since the advent of coronaville where the mindless sheep are all compliantly masked and socially distant. the meanest lies in the world are the ones i tell myself. fact is, all that grandiose assumption covers up a highly damaged and low self-esteem. people need people.
today's meditation read from "courage to change" was a timely reminder for me.
begin quote
i used to feel very hurt if anyone gave me an angry look, spoke in a harsh tone, or didn't speak at all. i've grown enough to realize that the look, tone or mood of another person toward me often has nothing to do with me. it generally has more to do with what is going on inside the other person.
so why do my feelings still get hurt? it occurs to me that my extreme sensitivity is a form of conceit --i think i am the focus of everyone's actions. am i so important that everything that goes on around me must have something to do with me? i suspect that attitude reflects my vanity instead of reality. and vanity is simply a defect of character that i am working on changing. when i do carry the hurt, it only hurts and controls me.
today's reminder
other people are important to me and sometimes their opinions matter, but i may be taking something personally that has nothing to do with me. having opinions of my own about myself lets me accept other people's thoughts without being controlled by them.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
care to connect the dots for me?
so many books and so little time. . .
i don't worry much about my current inability to gain contemporary wisdom from any of the ancient writings of whichever affiliation. i figure god will send me a good teacher if she/he/it wants me to fill the void created by that absence of early religious conditioning. in god i trust with all my heart and soul.
I wouldn’t say I have a huge ego but I would say I have an ego, like everyone, and sometimes it drives that delusion of grandeur in myself.
thank you for the high fiber chew, rmb. observation in progress. . .
I interpret references to vanity in the Bible to be related to meaninglessness. But I’m hardly a bible scholar.
On a side note, I really look forward to your meditation shares. I like the conversation and it gets the mental juices flowing. Good start to my day actually so thanks!
since you got me chewing this morning, i find myself trying to remember my textbook studies of "ego." i'm reluctant to admit that i can't seem to recall those textbook studies any better than i can remember my bible studies. quoting verses and chapters of any source is difficult for somebody with memory damage as severe as mine.
i am, however, increasingly confident that i have been using the two words and theory sets interchangeably, in accordance to the context i am conversing in. have i noted that i have been hearing the word, "ego" allot less since the fruedian theories have declined in popularity?
observation and review still in progress. . .
thank you again for the high fiber chew food. definitely a good way to start a day.
Yeah I think these translate just fine online myself. I appreciate the mental exercise
and crave exchanging ideas and perspectives. I will try my damn best to check my vanity or ego at the door. Tall order!
I belong to no church arfie. I have no affiliation other than belonging to the Body of Christ. I cannot quote scripture by chapter and verse, which is a gift in my opinion, and more likely to be possessed by gifted teachers who have a great responsibility before God to teach in truth and accuracy. I tend to lean more on the scripture of King David who said, “Thy Word I have hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” For me, knowing the chapter and verse is of less importance to me than knowing the words and their meanings.
the dictionary definition of "ego" implies that ego is decidedly more complex than vanity and i wonder if vanity would be a symptom of a damaged ego.
just for the general gee, this is how merriam webster defines ego:
"the one of the three divisions of the psyche in psychoanalytic theory that serves as the organized conscious mediator between the person and reality especially by functioning both in the perception of and adaptation to reality."
anybody who can trust themselves to give accurate quotes of anything is gifted in my book. i carry my driver's license so i can fact check my birthday before i quote it. i am a compulsive fact checker. i trust myself to get at least part of any quote wrong. the good news is that psycho tick makes me a top shelf researcher, albeit a bit tedious to live with.
