Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

i just got back from a vacay trip with hub-a-lub and our 3 foster kids, ages 12, 10 and 7. a splendid time was had by all, but it sure feels good to be home. tomorrow we leave for a birthday party a six hour drive away. the birthday party is for my husband's younger brother. he is in the end stages of huntington's disease. every party could be his last.
whew. . . that is a wide range of feelings to process. i'm feeling the tug of my old tendencies to start wishing i didn't have to. today's meditation from "meditations for people who worry" is helping me ease up and seems worth the positive reinforcement of sharing.

worry is the thinking part of anxiety ~amy h berger
i wonder what would happen if we just stuck with the anxiety? anxiety is a feeling and, in general, i have come to believe that feelings are our friends. feelings let us know where we are in time and space and often the only clues we really have about who and where we are.
there are no such things as "negative feelings." it is what we do with feelings that makes them negative.
for example, to we often feel anxiety in relation our children. if we did not care, we would not feel anxiety. the problem comes when we move from our guts and hearts to our brains. if we just sit with feelings we are having in our hearts and our guts, we usually discover that while the anxiety we are feeling may be triggered by our children, it often has something to do with issues that have been unresolved in us. our children and their issues only provide us with the door to walk through to our own healing.
when i focus on others, i may be trying to avoid what's going on with me.

something that is part of my depression today - I try so hard to please my flock
and yet they're highly critical - I found myself ultimately saying to myself ' i just want to feel important' - by what I do, by what I have in my life, to the people
around me. You are important Arfie to me and to the people around you. Your feelings are important and validating them is great self care. What does it mean to be important? Maybe we each have to define that - perhaps it's an attitude for how you carrying yourself through the day? You amaze me!
Keep on keeping on!
for my psycho nickel, the self validations are far more bolstering than waiting for the world around me to notice how great i am.
i don't see this as bogarting, mark. i am thrilled to see you participating.
i think of focus as a panoramic phenom, mel. my 10 year old drama queen can be in my eye line while i keep the focus on myself. methinks this very technique is what keeps me from shoving the fake nails of her current drama down her cute, little throat. balance in all things. just breathe. . .
