Prozac (sometimes referred to as Vitamin P) is an SSRI and one med that has been beneficial to me. Though I talk to people all the time that it has not done anything for. thing to remember is that 1. the effects of most meds is very subtle, those that you do feel an effect from (sedative) are sometimes difficult to walk away from when you get used to them. Recently I was prescribed Gabapentin as a seizure and peripheral neuropathy med. I got a unexpected benefit in learning this is sometimes prescribed as a "mood stabilizer". I have felt this effect and can now only hope it lasts. Been dealing with these issues for more the 35 years. There are times that I thought I had it licked only to backslide a bit. Good you are seeking advice here, this was not an option back then. If you live close to a city that has NAMI meetings (google it) you may want to attend these free meetings with people with similar issues. You will learn a lot and get support too.

I take 10 mg. of Prozac once a day, and 0.25 of Xanax when needed which works great for me. Good luck!

Xanax ER works well for me and I can take it as a PRN so I'm not on it all the time. I tend to trend towards that attack anxiety specifically. Not depression and anxiety. That's just me and it works for me I've whittled down the number of pills I take this way

I am on Celexa and Elavil at night--and due to a recent episode,1mg Klonopin in a.m.--I was taking Celexa at night because of drowsiness when taking in morning...I called my doc to see if I can switch Celexa back to a.m-(I would rather be drowsy than anxious) so I take Celexa in a.m-Klonopin mid day and Elavil before bed. That seems to be a better balance.

I took Prozac every day. It was prescribed specifically for my depression, but the biggest thing I noticed was that my anxiety attacks were less severe, which in turn leveled out the depression.

Zoloft and Ativan as well. Just switched to Zoloft after being on Celexa for 17 years.
