Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

May I ask how long you took the Zoloft? Because it can take about 30 days to start working, so I am wondering if you took it every day for at least a month? Zoloft is an excellent medication and I know a few people personally that it has changed their lives and they don't have anxiety any more.
Ativan is a fast acting anti-anxiety medication that is supposed to calm you for about 4 hours.
If these two medications aren't working for you, I suggest you call your doctor, you can leave a message for him/her, and let them know what you are going through. You don't have to suffer in silence.
A counselor is a great idea. I have therapy once per week and it helps me a lot.
You are not alone....
Welcome to the board.
You're going to be okay!
If you are hydration sensitive, you need to ensure you are keeping your hydration level up when taking zoloft.
Keep a daily journal to help keep track of what works when.
When I just can't see the point and nothing seems to work for me, my therapy peer support network is my most reliable lifeline. I never can seem to tell which node(s) on that network is going to provide the nugget(s) I need to keep going, but somehow the nuggets are always there when I need them the most.
I maintain a pretty diverse therapy support network and DS is one of the nodes on that network. Here in Corona Daze, it seems to be one of the more reliable nodes on that network. I miss my live support groups more than I can say, but ya know ya knows. Well mask it all! ! !
I hope DS serves you as well as it has served me. You are not alone.
Welcome aboard. Listening. . .
The level of anxiety (or as you said torment) I have is medication-resistant as well. I've been on Lexapro, Buspar, Zoloft, Ativan, Xanax and Kpin. Oh, and Inderol which is a bp medication used for anxiety. The benzos were short-lived because I didn't want to get addicted. Also, the dosages would have had to been so high that'd I'd prob sleep all the time in addition to becoming addicted. I would be interested in hearing what your dr says.
For myself, I use things to try to keep the anxiety under some sort of control. You'd never know it by looking at me that I have an anxiety disorder,
Sleep is a problem. I take a little bit of liquid benadryl before bed and it's enough to put me to sleep after a little while and it pretty much keeps me asleep. As long as I can sleep, I can deal with the other 16 hours, then it starts all over again.
Through the day, I stay busy. If you have a tough time getting motivated, make a list of anything you want to do even if it's just to take a shower. If it's not on paper, it doesn't exist. Put one foot in front of the other even though it feels like it has weights on it.
Do a google search for The Anxiety Guy. He's fantastic. It's almost like having a free counselor. He's active on all social media and has lots of youtube videos and podcasts. He addresses every aspect of anxiety there is from overthinking to health anxiety to fear of death. Love him.
I sure hope you find peace and life on the other side of this again. I hope you can get on a medication that works for you if you can't manage on your own.
